My girlfriend is 17 years old and we live in Kentucky. Everyone is telling me that she can move out of her house at the age of 17 years old on her free will and there is nothing that the law nor parents can do about it. And the legal age of consent here is 16 years old so they cant really place her as a run away child. I am 19 years old and she is pregnant. But however Ive read over the sex laws here and there is nothing her parents can do about it with her being over age of consent. But the main question here, is can she move in with me or a friend or with me and my mother at age 17 years old on her own free will... Like I stated, everyone else has told me that you can but your parents still have control over you as in medical terms, and could possibly even revoke her drivers license until she is of 18 years old. If anyone could find any helpful links that would also be greatly appriciated, thank you for your time...

She can always become emancipated which means she become her own legal guardian she is free to move, get married seek medical attention and anything else that she would usually need her parents consent to do. I did this several years ago and it was quite simple then but I am in Michigan and like I said it was years ago. I was 16 then. Check into it on the Internet, I'm sure there will be all kinds of information about it. Just make sure you look for the laws for your state. Hope it all works out for you Daddy to be.

Yes she can move out, the courts will not get involved with someone so close to 18. She is not a child and would not be bothered with as a runaway in fact in many southern states she can marry without parents consent before 18 if a baby is involved.

Hmm really? I think you can move back to Ontario's without your parents consent when you were 16 so you're free to do it ^^ And I think parents can legally kick you out of the house at age 18 so if you leave at age 18, they can't do anything about it and if they kick you out, you can't do anything about it.. But at 16 I think you can live wherever you want without parents consent cause my Dad kicked my older sister out of the hosue when she was 16 ^^ <-- (I'm not happy about it though) ^^<--- Just like to use this face =)

In the course of life we wish for many things and at different times in our lives we wish to be older than we are. Being 17 and out of her Mom's home does not make an adult she, being able to provide for ones self whether it be at 15, 16 or 17 makes an adult. Being out on ones own is something that usually can not be reversed. No moves should be made in haste. But if she still persists, check with your local court system, usually the chancery or family division as well as their websites for the information you seek.

if the legal age is 16 and she is 17 then she can move out on her free will. But you can double check..when i moved out my mothers house i would of been a run away but that's different because i live in California, but i checked it out so i wouldn't bump heads with the law.I went to LEGAL SERVICES FOR CHILDREN. You can go on line and look that up and try to get the website for it. It might work for you out there but it might only be California but it doesn't hurt to check it out though.good luck and congrats on the baby!

I'm in KY and the parents can cause her lots of problems if she moves out including being arrested and returned home against her will.
Be patient, if you are in love it will last, if not, you, she and the baby will be better off where you are. But you will pay support for the child for the next 18 years.

yes if its that big of a deal she might just have to become imancipated take her parents to court and take away their rights to her but she is 17 which is legal age. no they can not take her licence or any of that other crap nor can they stop her... dont worry so much but tell me why a 19 year old is sleepin with a 17 year old and gettin her prego id be more worried about her parents bringing you up on statuitory rape charges than anything else.... best of luck

Guess it really depends on the state that you live in. They might have certain laws. I live in pa. and when I was 15 and pregnant my Dad and family threw me out and never helped me. Oh how hard life was... If you can stay home I reccomend it even if it sucks.
