I want to switch to the Linux OS from the Windows OS whenever I build my new computer. What is a version of linux that has really good graphics like Windows Vista or MacOSx. Prefferably one of the free linux distributions.

Definitely Mandriva (formerly known as Mandrake); Mandriva DVD is full of software including different Desktop Environment, but you can only find open source software (closed source software can be installed later, anyway); on Mandriva One 2007 you can also find yet free but not open source stuff like official driver for nvidia and ati and firmware for some devices like adsl modems; with Mandriva (if your card is supported, so when you buy a new PC I suggest an nvidia based video card, since nvidia is better supported than ati) you can easily set 3D desktop features, transparencies, "springy" windows :) etc.
The same results can be achieved with every Linux, Mandriva is easier.

you may run Video and Audio production courses in Linux, in truth they're provided contained in the equipment administration application so that you'll set up and likely Linux will furnish you with each of the formats you want to position in your self from a similar application. oftentimes someone utilizing Linux needs to understand a thanks to attempt this, except console instructions that are slightly confusing for someone who's conscious not something about Linux. advertisement Linux Distributions are in all likelihood those that do not stick with the open source philosophy.
