You can book online (eurotunnel.com), you drive to its terminal at Folkestone and yes, after checking in and passing customs you drive onto the train itself. It takes about 40 minutes in all, and you can get out of your car to stretch your legs but the best way is to take the paper and your breakfast sandwich and relax on the way out! I should add that the carriages are spotless (you do not park up and go off as you would on motorail or ferry), apart from toilets, there are no other facilities so the only place to sit is in your car and you are advised to do so (the other postee got it wrong about not staying with your car!). My husband and I use the shuttle to go to France every other month and can't sing its praises enough!
The great thing is that when you arrive in Calais, you drive off the train straight onto the road and if you take a 20 minute drive you can be in the very pretty port of Boulogne Sur Mer - I wouldn't recommend Calais.

It's nothing to do with air pressure changes. The air pressure in the train will rise slightly as it descends but this is not by much - nothing like the changes experienced in an aeroplane. Also, unless your car is hermetically sealed the pressure change will occur inside the vehicle anyway through the heater fresh air intake ducts. The real reason, very bland, is simply so that you can hear the on-board tannoy (public address) system announcements. These are very important because they may contain safety or emergency information and instructions. There is a also "shuttle FM" radio system so that you can tune your car radio into listen to announcements. I've found that this is not always very good.

Yes as the other person said you can book on line or by phone, but look out for special deals if you go through the night you'll get it cheaper for example, and it's Folkstone to Calais not Felixtowe. The only disadvantage is the toilets try to go before you get on or make sure you go to the nearest not like i did walk nearly quarter of a mile when i was only 3 carriages from the other, cause there is only 2, one at front and one at the back. Bon Voyage and Happy new Year.

Your car is taken on a train, you just drive on and sit in it. You can book your ticket on the net or you can just turn up and buy one. It's pretty well signposted from all the major motorways. It's quite a good way to travel but often more expensive than the ferry. It's quicker but quite boring. It's not like the ferry where you can wander around and look at the shops the only place to visit is the toilet and that isn't particularly pleasant.

You drive your car onto a train and get out. You do not drive your car to England thru the chunnel nor do you stay in your car.
Use this link http://www.eurotunnel.com/ukcp3main
However, if the weather is nice a ferry ride it much more scenic and does not take that long and is cheaper. Check out ferries at http://www.studentsoftheworld.info/links/ferry/france.html
