For those who would consider a pentacle something to be scared of: How many people have been killed in the name of organized religion? How many people have satan worshippers killed? How often has history shown that religion pushed its views onto others in the world and killed those who resisted? If that cross is allowed, then just about any other symbol in the world should be allowed.
Of course the kids should be able to. It SHOULD be everyones right in a free country to believe whatever they like, no matter how wrong, right, or crazy other people think it is.
Unfortunately it doesn't really work like this anymore. Free speech is increasingly limited, in the west, to those views which do not strongly disagree with currently favoured social, religious, racial and political views.
Freedom is slipping away, although few recognize this fact, because few are critical and objective enough to remove themselves from what they are told by their country, culture, religion etc. It is much easier to accept constriction of freedom when you are told that it's necessary to ensure your safety.
Administration and governing bodies are not limited to "good" people, just as groups priests or police officers are not limited to "good" people. No group is. When those in power over us all are given too much power, we can only fear what the bad ones might do to us if we have given up so much of our freedom and given them so much power in the name of keeping us safe. People should learn more about what happened in the soviet union before things start to happen like the land of the brave and free is completely turned into the land of the scared and "safe".

That sounds like crap to me. People are just so dumb. If people can wear crosses to school and not get busted, why do people of other religions get punished for wearing a symbol of their religion? Total crap!
The pentacle is not even an evil symbol! If those jack*sses running the courts and schools would do some f*cking research, they'd figure out that a pentacle is a wiccan symbol of unity among nature! The five points mean: fire, water, earth, air, and spirit.
A pentaGRAM (an upside down pentacle) IS considered evil. Its considered a satanic symbol. And either way, is still none of their business what religion the kid is.
If they want to do away with religious symbols and recognize the "separation of church and state", then it should apply to EVERYBODY! That means the crosses come off too!

If it is legal to wear a cross, it should be legal to wear a pentacle. However, I don't think it would be wise to do so, because there are many people who would feel scared or threatened and might take it out in a negative way upon the child. Better for an adult to do so because an adult has more resources to deal with negative reactions. A child of school age (especially elementary and middle school) should not have to deal with such things..Children need emotional safety.

Of course they should be able to wear any religious symbol. The government grants religious liberty, it would be hypocritical if they did not grant the liberty to exercise your religion. However the government or the schools cannot establish a mandate that dictates the wearing of any religious symbols, or conversely the prohibition thereof. The court better have allowed it.

Pentacle, cross, star of david or peace sign. I see no reason for schools to interfere with anything someone wears on a chain.
The faith does not stem from the object. Faith comes from the wearer. Schools as government entities should stay neutral.

I don't understand why there was a court case at all. I am a Christian and I am allowed to wear a cross. A pagan can wear whatever they want. I don't see where there would be any problem. Are you sure this is about a necklace? Or are there other behavior factors?

I think they should. Pagans deserve the rights anyone else does. Clearly, adverse views are most likely discrimination.
True, it was briefly used by a gang known as the black stones, if I understand.
However, it was a religious symbol since the sumerians. Thats what?! 4000 years!? Comon!

No
But not for the reasons you might be thinking....
I asked my kids to wear their symbols under their shirts and out of sight..... because there is way too much BS going on in the public school systems.
Kids getting their $150 sneakers stolen, their $400 cellphones broken, their $200 blue jeans torn....whatever.....
It is a big thing to be able to "ONE UP" evryone else and some people get beaten up for it as well.
Personally.....
confiscate it all at the door or make them hide it under their shirts. They're there to learn
not to show off how rich mommy and daddy are.......
not to show off how much of a good 'believer' they are....
not to show off how "popular" they are for that matter either

This depends on the law of each country.
In theory the children are free to wear what they like; but some countries may feel that some symbols don't suit the ethics of their people.

I was openly wearing an upside-down cross at school, and people thought it was satanit, but they were/ still are dead wrong. It's related directly to St Peter's death, but I got in trouble because the school staff though me to be evil.
