I'll go with the long version - I went on a website that listed 167 contradictions in the New Testament and I worked through it and got it down to just one that I thought was a real contradiction. The contradiction was something like, "In the Synoptic Gospels, Jesus is baptized then immediately goes into the desert for 40 days, while in the gospel of John Jesus gets baptized, spends two days calling the disciples, then on the third day is at the wedding. No mention of the 40 days is even hinted". I said that was an irrefutable contradiction, and then a Christian called me stupid, which made me get defensive and then he said that the Gospel of John does not "have" the baptism at all. I looked at it closer and saw he was right, the only thing the gospel says is that John the Baptist gave a TESTIMONY that he HAD baptized Jesus. I felt really stupid after that. The Gospel of John must begin after Jesus' return from the 40 days in the desert, when the author John actually meets Jesus. So although I did not convert my religion (since I was already a Christian) I realized my first belief about the contradiction was stupid..... Then I forgave the Christian who called me stupid, because I could clearly see how I was stupid for buying into that contradiction. I did feel stupid, I "solved" 166 contradictions and then was deceived by one very baseless one.

I started off at Y Answers as an agnostic. But through debate and argument and discussion here plus some simple reasoning of my own, I am now an atheist.

I myself have had questions answered concerning other faiths that I didnt know before and have found this forum helpful in this way. I doubt many people would change there faith instantly over yahoo answers but it is good to share the truth with those that will hear it and perhaps a seed will fall on fertile ground and someone will seek the truth.

This site did not convert me....but I have seen a lot of very intelligent people on here. I was expecting a bunch of rambling idiots and people preaching. (granted, we've got a few of those here). But I've been suprised at the amount of intelligent conversation that actually goes on in this section.

Most of the times the conversions only are helped along with things like this site, videos, books, conversation etc.
Actual conversions probably mainly happen when left alone and with serious contemplation, wether trying to or not.

I am not converted and I know not if anyone else is converted.
But I realize that many people are really aware of serious matters. I am more confirmed that mankind are entering the age of maturity.

No. I was an atheist, and this site only showed me more reason of why I should stay that way...

I would think that if someone's beliefs changed after a simple Q&A, they never actually believed anyway.

Yes, actually. I went from Pagan to Satanic. Not because of Y!A, but it helped about 0.05 percent.
