This morning, i saw strings of curled white worm in my puppy's poo. What should I know and do ?

I got the stray puppies from the shelter. Additional information is that the puppies were infested with ticks which were treated earlier. Another puppy had maggots grown on the wound made by the ticks. But it has been treated by the vet a day ago.

If they're passing the worms, then it means they have already been dewormed. Although it's gross to see them, it's a good thing that the puppies passed them.
I'm very leery of any and all over-the-counter medications, including dewormers, for they either don't work, and/or cause severe complications, some fatal once.
Stick with what the vet gives you. He'll deworm the pups again at the same time they'll get the next set of shots. At the end of the series of shots, start your pups on heartworm prevention, your vet will advise you on which kind, and you'll never have to deworm them again, as heartworm prevention also control intestinal parasites.

If it looked something like spaghetti noodles then it is round worms. Most puppies do have them and they get them from their mother. It is treated very easily, usually with a powder that is mixed in their foods. If they have been treated for worms then they are probably just pooping them out. Which in fact is a good thing. They could possibly have other worms also, it would be a good idea to take one of them to the vet (if you tell the vet that you have 2 pups and have seen worms in both they will more than likely give you enough meds for both rather than being charged double) and get the vet to do a fecal sample on the poo. All that involves is sticking a small stick up the rectum and examining it under a microscope. This way if there are any other worms you can get them treated.

the vet that treated the pup yesterday probably gave her a dewormer. this will cause the live worms in her intestines to be paralysed. then they are passed in her stool. sounds like a roundworm these are typical for puppies. and if she is passing them then that's good because the dewormer is working. she will probably pass these anywhere from the next few days to a week. when you take her to your vet for another round of vaccines they will deworm her again and don't worry if she starts passing more, it's normal until they are all gone. round worms are resilant little creatures and sometimes take multiple dewormings. and thank you for saving her life at the shelter.

There are lots of different types of worms most common being the flat tapeworms and the skinny roundworms. There are however other nasties that would fit the description so my advice would be to see a vet about worming medication and take a "sample" with you just incase its one of the less common types of worm. Most supermarkets stock various brands of worm tablets in the pet section so once the initial problem has been sorted out you would be able to get a good comprehensive wormer from there.

Those are round worms. Did your vet give you de-worming medication? You will need to do it a few times to make sure it is all gone.

If your vet gave them de-worm medication, and you are seeing all those worms in their poo, this is a good thing! That means the dewormer is killing those nasty things off;-)

Do it again in another 2 weeks or as your vet recommends..

puppies can get worms of several types it is not very costly to have vet check for worms and deworm. some pups will eat stool if they do correct this habit because that will give them worms and maybe worse. watch them when they are out if they try to eat stool a light tap and a firm no a few times will break the habit and they can also get worms digging break that habit also good luck

Take the puppies to vet, there they'll get fecal tests and the vet will most likely give medecine that will only need to be administered 2-3 time in 1 month.

Take them to the vet ASAP. When a dog has worms it is nothing to be light about, they can get very very sick. Your dogs may not have the correct immunizations or they may need a deworming treatment that is treated at the veterinarian. My pound puppy had little white worms in her poo and she had parvo, but I got her to the vet soon enough so that she could get treated properly and she was just fine. Good luck!!!!

Simple. Take her to the vet or buy a deworming medicine. Chances are she will need to be treated again in 2 weeks and then another 2 weeks after that.

All puppies have worms. The shelter prolly gave them some de-wormer and they poop them out. Just keep an eye on thier poop and make sure they don't have any more.... You might need to get more de-wormer, they sell it at wal mart really cheap
