Unlike any other sport, it is the intention of boxers to physically injure their opponents by knockout or by exploiting cuts around the eyes. It is barbaric that in the modern age we allow people to intentionally inflict injuries upon others for the sake of public entertainment and private profit. At the very least professional boxers should be forced to wear head guards, rounds should be shortened and maybe the head (as the major source of injury) should be taken out of the target area.
As a first step, professional boxing at least should be banned, as it is already in countries like Sweden, Cuba and North Korea. Even if adults wish to fight each other for sport, violence should not be encouraged by financial reward.
The celebrity that is awarded to boxers glamorises and legitimises violence in society. Alongside the violence in the ring brawls often break out at press conferences and even inside boxing venues. The marketing of boxing exalts this mindless violence and those who perpetrate it, BOXERS ARE NOT ROLE-MODELS OF WHICH WE SHOULD BE PROUD.
I would ban boxing.
I would ban contact sports.
I would end the fight game.
I believe violence is unacceptable.

No, boxing should not be banned. Fighters know the risk when they enter the ring. Yes, boxing is a dangerous sport, but so is football, and that is one of the most watched sports in america, and i rarely hear anyone calling for it to be banned. I have played football and i have also boxed, and believe me, football is just as rough. I think there should be a national commision in boxing where every state would have to comply under the same rules. One big problem in boxing is that all these different states have their own rules and if a fighters suffers multiple knockouts in one state and can't get a license, he can go right to another state and get a fight, thus putting himself in even more danger because he's fighting when he really shouldn't be. Boxing needs better control across the board. But at the end of the day, fighters know the risk they are taking and they should be allowed to make that choice and to make a living from it if that's what they choose to do. Boxing is not a sport for everyone and there is not one athelete on this planet i respect more than a fighter because i see first hand the dedication and discipline it takes to be a boxer. Yes, it is dangerous, but so are a lot of other sports, and for that matter, so is life.

Nothing better than two skilled and I do mean skilled fighters going at it. Boxing can be very exciting and entertaining and at times boring when guys don't know how to fight. The dangerous part of boxing is when mismatches occur and some guys frankly should nor be allowed to fight. No boxing should not be banned but better protection for fighters and less corruption is the best answer.

HELLLLLLLLLLZ NO.
BOXIG IS A WAY OF LIFE, DISCIPLINE, HONOR and PAIN.
WE KNOW WHAT WE DO AND WHY WE DO IT. EVERYTIME A BOXER GOES IN THE RING AND FIGHTS, AND OUTSIDE THE RING THEY ARE GENTLEMAN, WELL AT LEAST THE ONES WITH CLASS. LIKE ALL THE ABOVE PERSONS SAID, ITS OUR CHOICE. Plus you will not get a better feeling when you hear your name and hundreds and somtimes millions of fans cheering for you. Its a electrifying feeling that some might not understand or be drawn to, but to the elite fighters there is no better feeling in the world.

In my opinion yes it should be banned. It is the most stupid sport invented. Too many deaths have occured from this so called sport or even other head injuries that did not cause death but did cause severe changes for the person. What is wrong with us? Why do we live in a society who enjoys watching grown men beat the crap out of each other. Although baseball has seen it's fatalaties I think it is by far the best competitive sport. And for the most part the players are intelligent.

uhh we arent forcing people to fight. besides if we ban it we will still have street boxing matches with no meds nearby. plus wat would happen to rocky or muhhamid ali? they would be shunned. there are over a million boxers in every leage all together it is more likely to get in a car crash then get killed in a boxing leuge so whats next banning dirving if u ask me those guys r wimps. they have no idea wat boxing is all about. and where will it end? if boxing gets outlawed so will wrestleing and football and kirate and nascar. eventually the list will run down to a sport u really enjoy will it be better to be safe then? and thats 1000 deaths over 100 years more people die from lightning. so if u ask me BELL NO

Give me a good reason for Sport as violence.
We say Romans were barbaric when they sent out the Gladiators in the arena, but are we any better when we enjoy people hitting eachoter till KO?
They Win money okay, but as you said more than 1000 boxers have died..and why? What's more important, money, health, life or enetrtaining the audience?
In my opinions Sports have to be fair play, and box isn't.
Some days ago we were wathing some Hulk Hogan matches, and i tell you that i prefer to see them pretending than really hurting eachother.
So, YES, i think boxing is useless, it developes the taste for violence...so i think It should be banned for all the Possible reasons.

One of the biggest problems with the world today is the legislation of morality. It is not anyone's right to tell me that I should or shouldn't enjoy boxing. It is no one's right to say to a man who is a boxer that they can't box when they are 100% ready and willing to get into the ring.
You anti-boxing fools forget that we were given these bodies through a right of passage on this earth. Every one of us represents violence merely by existing, we are the end product of continuous and unending violence. From the very dawn of history until now violence is a part of mans world because it is a part of natures world.
You need to look past your petty little emotions and see the bigger picture. Violence is the essence of nature, but the word violence is misleading because nature does not see conflict as violent, but as rational. And on a rational level boxing is like a test, a test to determine who is greater, and in determining who is greater, reward the victor so that they might go on succeeding and thus bring meaning to their existence on this earth.
Not everyman was put on this earth to fit into your perfect little warped realities. Some of us are actually willing to accept what it means to have these bodies, to understand the passion of our flesh, to realize that everything that we are is born from that and to deny its existence is to deny who and what we are.
You can preach non-violence all you want, but at some point you must eat, you must kill life to survive, and at some point in the history of all humans our ancestors were faced with a choice, fight or die. I don't think I need to tell you what happened to the non-violent types... They were granted their wish, in refusing to fight they were relieved of their lives. That is life. Violence will never end because this universe is designed for conflict. Oh there will be times of peace, even as there have been times of peace in the past, but the need for violence will recur, it is inevitable, when two competing interests both need limited resources to survive violence will erupt, its natures way....

GOD NO! Boxing and MMA (Mixed Martials Arts - think UFC) are the oldest sports we have. People have always fought each other for entertainment and sport. It's pure and beautiful. It's not like anyone is making them fight for a living.
