I would like a medical person to answer this question, if possible.

I did scream to the top of my voice about 7-8 months ago, but also done the same thing over a number of years, before. The next morning when I got up, my hoarseness in the voice has gone away, but I felt pain and congestion in the middle part of my neck/throat. This happened in June, 2006.

Since the above time, I had fluctuations in my throat with pain, pressure, discomfort, inflammation, etc. I have been to the doctor after 2 weeks as the pain was not relieving and also during that month, the season was cold. He said, I had an infection, but the pain and congestion still stayed.

Later on sometime, I went to the ENT specialist and all he gave me was DEMAZIN and DIAZEPAM and said, there was nothing wrong with me.

Recently, I went to the general doctor and received antibiotics and said, I was having "post-nasal drip".

Could someone explain, if this throat congestion is due to screaming or anything else?

Screaming can cause inflamation and soreness in your throat. For that you can take any kind of NSAID (Ibuprofen, Advil, Alleve) and if it feels conjested it can be you are having some sinus drainage along with it. A good decongestant like Claritin D or Pseudophed would help with that. Now sometimes a person can be under so much stress that the feel like their throat is swollen and some cannot even swallow. It may be why the ENT prescriped the Diazepam (Valium) to help you relax. I had that happen and it was about a month before mine went away completely. And it was simply stress. Good luck. If it does not go away, I would keep going back because it could also be a sign of something more serious.
