Yes, it is called Named Non Owner. You can cover yourself without owning a car, just like when you rent a car and you can get the insurance on it, but you don't own it. As far as the amount and from who, call or go on-line and get quotes, it is easier to call for something like this though. If you have a clean record, it should not be too awful much, but that also depends on so many other factors; like age, credit rating (yes!), area you live in, you get the picture.

I dunno about other States but in Ky ( the state where I live) the car has to be in your name for you to get insurance on it
