I just found out that i'm anemic today from the doctor. I'm not underweight or anything. Is there any foods (in addition to the prescrption pills that my doc gave me) i can eat that will give me iron but at the same time is not fattening, and will not increase my weight (as in it can promote weight loss or let me stay at the same weight? (i'm 14 btw).

Those ferrous sulfate (iron) pills are going to help alot.
I'm anemic too, have always been borderline (11-12) but
got down as low as 8 a few months ago after giving birth.

I love spinach, and I DON'T love red meats, but they are high in iron, especially if the meat is an organ. Sorry, don't mean to gross ya out, but you know: liver, kidney, etc.

Also, try to go to a health food store and ask for vegan supplements as well.

Well, I am 12 years old. I had anemia and I used these pills called "Ferrous Sulfate"

I had it for a while and I took one each day when I ate in the middle of the day... After about 5 months I stopped taking them and now I don't have it...

There are many good iron-rich foods that are not fattening. Liver is probably the best source of iron, but there are many other foods. I've included a link below to a list of all sorts of foods that are rich in iron.

If you eat food rich in protein esp. meat, you'll never have anemia.
