I think it's actually better NOT to wash your hair before you color it. That way some of the natural oils are still there and it protects your hair a little more. At least that's what I've heard.
Okay yeah...I looked it up.http://www.helium.com/tm/75022/maintaining-color-treated
Just making sure I didn't give you some wrong advice.

yes it is actually better to wash ur hair right before coloring it. this is so there would be no oil in your hair so that the hair dye sticks to your hair not the oil. also make sure you don't scratch your scalp, just massage your head lightly. if there are scratches on your scalp, it will sting like hell. and before you dye your hair make sure your hair is completely dry. i do this every time and it works great on my hair.

On each and every bottle of hair dye you get it could have instructions interior. maximum I even have chanced on purely say prepare to unwashed hair because of the fact once you die it you get in the bathe and wash your hair like the hair dye grew to become into the shampoo and that they frequently have some style of conditioner in the field besides. you do no longer would desire to attend an entire 24 hours regardless of the undeniable fact that. in case you wash your hair in the morning and dye it around time for supper you will desire to be super. Or in case you bathe at night then purely dye it any time for the period of day after right this moment. i individually like Garnier Fructis hair dye and that i noticeably advise it. Your hair would be super and sleek after wards and it incredibly works splendidly.

No,you're not supposed to wash it before coloring it. It's best to have it a day or two un-washed.

NO
unless you have any hair products in your hair from that day.
It is best not to wash your hair because of the natural oils coming from your scalp. Dying hair tends to make it more brittle and coarse after wards. Oils help to prevent this from happening.

NO the natural oils help protect your scalp.
Don't scratch the scalp either I would only do color on hair that is a day old so it doesn't burn and it will. So be careful.

The best thing to do is read the instructions! Normally, the instructions will say NOT to wash your hair first.
