I am trying to decide between these two TV's. They are both on sale and both are $1399. Which TV is better?

i say go for the LCD because within a year your plasma will start leaving like shadows of things watched in the past so when u are watching one TV show you will see the shadow of a previous show

What's best is largely up to your viewing habits..

I just shopped and educated myself on LCD's and Plasma TV's. Here's what i found out. When talking about "major" brand names shop by the numbers. There's the resolution number (over all picture clarity and the contrast number (dark contrast to light). In both cases the higher the number the better.

I ended up buying a 42" plasma by HP at Best Buy. It wasn't the lowest price, but it was a good value over all.
The limit of 60,000 hours didn't bother me because I don't watch that much TV so I opted for the better picture number for number. If your TV is on more then 6 hours a day you are better off with a LCD.
Let a sales person educate you. I trust Circuit City the most on that aspect.

Good Luck

as always it is a matter of personal preference. both mediums have their plussus and minusus. i personally would not go for an LCD over 37" because the picture quality does not compare to a plasma of the same size (although below this the LCD has the edge) on larger lcd's there tend to be pixel response issues causing what is known as "trailing" in faster imagery (such as a sports programme for instance) also in an LCD there is a continous backlight on so the black levels are not as impressive as they are in a plasma. that said LCD is better when a pc input is being used so the tv can be used as a moniter (a plasma can as well but the pictures are not as impressive). with plasma there has long been an issue with "burn-in". this is where a sustained logo (such as sky sports) burns in to the PDP (plasma display panel). but nearly all new plasma tv's have some degree of anti-image sticking circuitry incorperated into their sets so with care this annoying problem is almost non-existent. a good quality plasma can last up to 60.000 hours (between 12-17 years depending on use) so please pay no attention to the "they have to be re-gassed every few years" merchants-plasma tv's simply do not work this way. i have an LG pxr42r-za (a 42" plasma) it has all the picture circuitry i need (which yours will have) and in my honest opnion i could not have made a finer investment (bear in mind that LG are one of the few plasma/LCD tv makers that produce their own screens-most others import theirs-from LG/samsung!!!). so i love mine to peices. in the case of the plasma with a little care and careful study of the manufacturers handbook you will not be dissappointed. if you do decide to opt for the plasma and you need advice on its care please do not hesitate to contact me by e-mail.

Among the two 42" LG Plasma (42PC3D) is the better option. Pls go for it.
