I was a mime in high school, many years ago, and I used something called "Clown White". It was a powder base and made by Max Factor. I applied it with a damp make-up sponge and it worked great. The grease white smeared too easily and appeared shiney, where the powder base was more flat. You should be able to find it at a professional beauty supply place or costume shop.

Professional pantomimes use greasepaint, the same as a circus clown. You can get it at a theatrical supply store, costume house, or magic shop -or online. It's called simply, "clown white." Smear a small gob in your palm and rub it with your fingers to warm it up. Then rub it evenly and lightly all over your face. Rub well, and finally pat it all over with your palm, to remove any streaks. Dust your face with talcum powder to "set" the paint (Use a 2" paint brush or fill an old sock with the powder and dab it on.) Rub this very gently with your hands, and finally, rinse your face with cold water. The water takes off the excess powder and further "sets" the greasepaint. You can then add some colors or outlines, or just leave it all white. It's removed by rubbing in baby oil, cold cream, or something like Noxema cream. Even butter or cooking oil would work in a pinch. Properly applied, greasepaint is waterproof. But sweat will make it run. And properly applied, it's smooth and pure white (unless you want to mix in some colors). The main reason so many people hve trouble with it smearing or rubbing off is that they don't properly do the powder/cold water routine properly. So they get water-based stuff and wonder why it runs in the rain!

The most obvious answer is clown, but who wants to go around school looking like that all day. Besides, a lot of people are afraid of clowns. Consider some of the other acts they have in the circus (and if your school is going to suspend any dress codes for the day). Maybe a short-sleeved leotard top with some tights with a short little ballet-type skirt (not a tu-tu), some ballet slippers, sparkly makeup and some sort of shiny or feather-type decoration for your hair. A friend of mine did a circus-theme party and I went as a mime. Black pants, black t-shirt, white gloves and lots of white makeup with red lips.

What Do Mimes Wear

Use white greasepaint. That's the kind of make-up clowns and mimes wear.

You can get it at a costume store. The kind that looks like a crayon seems convenient, but it doesn't work as well as the kind that's in a jar or tin.
