I think you are way to focused on your "weight problem" You sound like you are young...and want that "twiggy" look that was popular back in the day. But if you havent noticed...there are only 2 type of people out there today...the "twigs" and rounder shaped people. Instead of concetrating on the actual pounds that you weigh...work on definition....a fine toned body is way prettier than a twig. And by the way...140 lbs is actually considered on the low side of average for a 5'8 woman. So I dont believe you have an "eating" disorder...I think its more a cry for something you are lacking on the inside...self confidence. You need to find more time consuming activities to do, and not worry about what you eat.

You are not fat. In fact, your BMI is 21.3. However I do understand you might feel like you look fat.
Please realize that it's your starvation habit that keeps you fatter than you would like to be!
It's important that you make a distinction between weight coming from fat and weight coming from muscle.
The more you starve the fatter you become, because an increasing part of your body will become composed of fat. In fact, starvation (the way you have when you only eat 1500 calories a day) makes the body SAVE FAT and destroy muscle instead. But muscle is what help you burn fat, not starvation.
You would be better trying to lose fat by doing cardio and gain some muscle instead. That way, you would be LEANER and your added muscle would help you burn fat.
I do think, like others have said, that you might need a professional to help you deal with self-esteem issues. I don't think that telling you "fat is beautiful" is of help, right? You need to learn to put up muscle rather than fat.

You are definitely NOT fat by any standard I understand. According to body mass index, you body is about 21% fat, which is several points under the criteria for obesity. You are utterly normal as far as body size. What is NOT normal is your obsessing over food. Your fear of eating in front of other people is a tell-tale sign that you may in fact be at some risk for anorexia nervosa; in the same way an alcoholic doesn't let others know how much he drinks, a victim of anorexia is often very reluctant to allow anyone to see how much (or how little) they eat.
I urge you to contact your doctor and tell him/her what you have asked us all here; you are still healthy, and you recognize the potential for a problem - don't let that change.
Good luck!

I would say that you are definitely entering the danger zone. For starters, your weight is within the normal range, yet you refer to yourself as "fat". Eating even 1500 calories a day is really a bit low, especially if you work out. Throwing up, of course, is a problem, even if you don't do it every day. You are probably damaging your metabolic rate by eating so little, destroying your body's ability to burn calories efficiently, and your looks are probably suffering (dry skin, brittle nails, thin, dry hair from eating too little fat). Your body is using muscle tissue for energy, which will further deplete your metabolic rate. If you can't stop on your own, PLEASE seek help. Eating a healthy diet is important. No one can make you do it, but you are heading down a road you don't want to be on. Do whatever it takes, but try to turn it around before it is too late.

I don't think that is fat at all. Its a great weight to be at. Search google for a free BMI index. It will calculate what range of fat compared to other body aspects you are in. But if you want to lose weight you are approaching it in a completely wrong way. If you don't eat for one to two days your body will actually store more fat and create more fat as soon as you eat some food. What you have to do is eat less, but eat throughout the day. Not eating for long periods of time causes your body to go into survival mode and prepare for the next time you will starve yourself by packing on fat. You have to eat to stay thin, but eat less and spread it into smaller meals throughout the day. keep exercising, and do not eat withing two hours of going to bed. That causes you to add on fat too. Don't snack on sugary, carb filled food. There is an organized safe way to lose weight, that will get you results. Its not safe to lose 5-8 lbs a week, it will jump back up. The way you are doing it, already sounds like an eating disorder, don't worry. If you are not happy with what you have, relax and work at it day by day, don't binge and try to make it up by starving yourself.

First off, 140 pounds for 5'8" is not fat, and second, yes, you are not on a healthy road. You won't get the help you need on here though, you need to go and talk to someone about this. It isn't worth your time to worry about food and weight to this degree, it is unhealthy, and you will never be happy or satisfied. You are going to keep yourself from being happy about all the wonderful things in your life if you only base success and esteem on your physical appearance. Other people don't care as much as you think, and I hope you learn to love yourself for all your good qualities and all your imperfections. We are beautiful because of all our qualities, good and bad, and someone who is too perfect isn't desireable. Please talk to someone, see a counsellor, talk to your parents, talk to people you trust. They won't judge you, they care and will want to help you. I hope you find what you need to feel good about who you are, exactly as you are, and the stregth to move beyond these things. *hugz*

personally i don't think 140lbs is fat if your 5'8 because that is tall. you definetly have some self-image issues. you don't have to be skin n' bones to be anorexic. i think all your symptoms show that you have an eating disorder. it may be you are going through some issues and focusing on your weight is how you cope with whatever is bothering you deep down.
