I have about 5 weeks left in my pregnancy and I want to start packing my bag the last of this week or early next week because you never know what to expect. I want to know what all do I need to pack in my bag to go to the hospital for me and for my baby as well. I know I will breastfeed while in the hospital so formula is out the question, but will I need to take pampers, wipes, bottles, clothes, etc with me too? I want to make sure I don't forget anything, so please tell me everything you recommend I take to the hospital with me...thank you.

The number one thing to take to the hospital is your brain. MDs make mistakes and they work under a lot of pressures, including time. Make sure you don't go to the hospital until you are well into labor.

Good choice with the breastfeeding! Your baby will love you for it. Take the number of a lactation consultant or other BF organization. Often times, the nurses are too busy to help you with breastfeeding.

I also suggest food of some sort. You'll likely be very hungry after, and if the cafe is closed, you'll be going nuts. I made my hubby a checklist that included a small cooler with fruit, juices, snacks. Of course, they won't likely let you eat or drink once at the hospital, which is one reason to stay home as long as possible!

Baby stuff is minimal--1-2 diapers (they should have some for you while you're there), a onesie, maybe one outfit, a blanket.

For you--a change of clothes, something loose like sweats. Remember, you'll be going home with massive pads in your panties. Take a nursing bra or go home braless. In 5 weeks, depending on where you live, you'll want something warm, like a sweatshirt. Think loose clothing.

Oh, and take some pads at home, pour about 1/4c of witchazel on the pads and then freeze them. There's nothing like a frozen pad to help with that area post birth.

Have extra batteries and memory cards for your cameras.

Congrats and good luck!

Make sure you pack comfortable clothes for you (maternity), b/c you will not be that much smaller after giving birth. The hospital will provide diapers, but take a few newborn size just in case. At least two pairs of socks (warm) for you, and any toiletries you use everyday. A camera, film (if not digital), journal and reading material. A tennis ball (for back massage) and anything else you need to relax. Hair tyes b/c you don't want hair in your face! For baby: a few wipes in a ziplock bag, small hat for head, socks, and one or two outfits (full pajamas or onesie depending on weather). Carseat, should have base already in vehicle fastened properly. Two light blankets. Don't forget snacks if you don't like hospital food! Hospital will provide huge pads for you, but I don't like those so I bring storebought overnights. Good luck

The hospital will supply you with diapers, wipes, baby lotion, baby shirts, recieving blankets, hygeine products including pads. They will give you bottles, formula, pacifier and most likely a diaper bag.

Take:
Pajamas
Robe
House shoes
Camera
Hairbow/Brush
Chap stick
Clothes to wear home (Loose fitting)
Socks
Your own pads if you want
Panties
Good tight fitting bra

For baby:
Outfit to have their picture taken in
Outfit to go home in
Heavy Blanket (Since it is cold out)
Baby book (To get the footprints)
Socks
Car seat

Good luck and Congrats

Start packing now, that way you can keep going back to it to make sure you haven't forgotten anything. baby could come 2-3 weeks early. Also i would advise you to leave it in the car its the last thing you want to think about during contractions. Depend s on the hospital so call them up to see if they supply nappies (diapers) and wipes. you will need to take baby clothing.

You dont need anything for baby but an outfit to go home in. The hospital supplies everything. You will need anything you would normally take on any overnight trip and I suggest taking your own maxi pads because many hospitals still use belts and old fashioned ones.

you dont need to take bottles , the hospital will provide enough diapers till you take the baby home. you need slippers and a front opening night gown, a book maybe, and a nightie for the baby to wear home and a recieving blanket and maybe a heavier one if you are in a cold area. you might want to take one of those cheap little preloaded film cameras to take pics of the baby as soon as you get the baby to yourself.
