Make lists so you can cross off the chores. Also, rate yourself after completing the jobs or chores. Take pride in everything you do, even if you are the only one who notices. Eventually you will become the person who will be referred to as the one who does good, consistent work and people will notice. Good luck.

You are procrastinating! You probably don't like to do the things that you have to do. My suggestion is to seek those things that you like to do and do well and concentrate on them first. If you are uninterested in your job, do not approach your tasks with enthusiasm, then think about getting out of it and finding a job that interests you. Always their will be things to be done that are routine and boring. It takes self discipline to do these things and some of the other answers above outline methods to improve here.

Focus on achieving continuous improvement in hatever you do . what the japanese call Kaizen. Its a process of continnuous and incremental improvement in whatever you do.
You may also improve your work ethic through target and objective setting. set the targets and objectives for each job/assignment, define the parameters to determining the successful completeion of the job and set it all in writing. then you go through achjieving all that to the end, and your performance should improve cos you will be doing 'WHAT HAS TO BE DONE'
