I have tried time over time. Even to the point of lying to myself to become christain. I have found that it would be so much simpler if instead of always being boggled about sertant things, that if i was christain they would be answered. Life would be simpler.
I have honestly tried praying that god come to me in his unique way and save me. I have gone to church begging for it to make sense, yet here i stand.
Unfortunately, maybe my high intelligence is a curse, but i cannot come to terms with christianity. I have tried so many times. I cant help it, my mind just keeps pointing out the flaws and the complete nonsense. My mind always is pointing out how the socail functions of a religion works and how the people benifit and how people blatently lie to themselves. I SEE IT! I just cant come to terms with lieing to myslelf like others do. I cant help but seeing the complete flaws and nonsense it is!
Honestly, i wish i could be christain. I just cant. But it would make life so much easr

timeless: been there, done that.
Nothing happens. Its like when some one prays to god, "can i have some money? i really need it"
Guaranteed, the prayer will be answered. I could pray to a bowl of jello and get just as good an answer. Eather i get it or i dont. Thats the answer. Oh, or the infamouse, be patient answer. Which results from not getting what you asked for,and no definate NO response. Chances are, i will eventually get what i asked for. Its just plain chance.

I THINK SOME PEPLE ARE GETTNG WHAT IM SAYING WRONG. I WANT TO BE CHRISTAIN JUST SO EVERYTHING CAN BE ANSWERED. BUT I CANT. THE ANSWERS ARE SO RIDICULOUS!
I ONLY WANT IT TO EASE THE TORMENT OF ACTUALLY NOT KNOWING. LIKE ATHIESTS HAVE A HARD TIME BECAUSE WE ARE ALWAYS TRYING TO FIGURE THINGS OUT, AND WE INVEST ALOT OF OUR TIME DOING SO. HEY, BECOME CHRISTAIN AND PROBLEM SOLVED, NO MORE NEED TO USE YOUR HEAD. ITS ALL ANSWERED.

DOnt get me wrong, i do believe in a higher pwer of some sort, i just will admit, that it is so complex to understand, that i wont even bother trying to understand it. it is impossible for a fish to describe the deserts of africa.
LIke christains version of free will contridicts all the time! Like when jesus rose from the dead! He shown himself to hundreds of people after he died! Wouldnt that conflict with your free will? these 500 people that saw christ are almost guarenteed to be christain because they saw it with their own eyes! Where i dont get such an opertunity. I rather be the guy seeing it happen, then the guy hearing it from a friend of a friend. its just not fare for us, when these people almost get a freebie in because they were lucky enough to see christ. The fairness and freewill is course.

Yes i have read the gnostic books. (the books removed from the king james) I find that the books other than the popular four tell a different story.

Your high intelligence is not and would not be a curse.
Intelligence is being able to get knowledge from things, places, and other people.
Whose rules do you want to go by?
I've been avoiding protestant organizations for a few years now. I saw the nonsense, too. After a while I stopped trying to come to terms with it. I walked away from it.
I go to church with my catholic parents 3 times a year.
Lately I've gone through a sad time of not knowing what or who to believe.
The only thing that made it a little bearable was to go back to certain parts of the king james bible, mostly new testament book of Luke.
I've gone through a time of wondering if prayer could be answered. Some of mine haven't been, and I have to live with the fact that the answer was flat out No.
Some things I've prayed for were like asking for heaven on earth. What most people do pray for any way when you think about it.
As far as making life easier, the only thing that does that is to be good to other people when you're able to.
Life in general does not make any sense, or this earth would be heaven.
You need not belong to a church group to be "Christian."
Your high intelligence, and the fact that you noticed how people do lie to themselves are part of a Christian's life in actual practice.
I stopped trying years ago to be the kind of Christian that other Christian people thought I should be. I think that might help you a lot.
I also recommend reading the parts of the gospel about how Jesus forgave and healed people who weren't "Christian," didn't "have faith," and didn't know how or if they should ask him.
Do what you're able to do. Religious people have no right to judge you, or accuse you of anything.
Your mind wants truth, and I hope you keep seeking it.

I think you just need to understand that it's not a matter of being a christian.
Jesus never came to establish a religion to compete with other existing religions.
Jesus came to restore a relationship between God and man.
If you can focus more on knowing God throug readig HIs word, I assure you, you will not even bother with what other say of your life, neither some religious fulfillements.
"I would rather be called a kingdom citizen, than a christian"
Do you know by the way why the name "Christian"
It's to say "Christ like"
This means that you live your life like Jesus Christ lived His life/
How do you live this life? By reading the Bible and learn about Jesus' life you will knwo all this.

It sounds to me like you are missing the point of Jesus. Adam and Eve had eternal life in the Garden of Eden until they sinned by eating the forbidden apple. God says that sinners can't go to Heaven and because all of us inherited the original sin from Adam and Eve no one could go to Heaven. When Jesus came to earth he died on the cross for all our sins so that we can now go to Heaven. All we have to do is confess to God that we are sinners, and we are because of original sin if nothing else and believe in Jesus Christ with all our hearts and all our sins will be forgiven and forgotten and we can go to Heaven.
Please keep in mind that the Old Testament is a history book, the two commandments in the New Testament are how we should live our lives today. We have a body and we have a soul or spirit. I'm not saying don't pray for things on earth, but the Bible is all about our spiritual life. Most of your prayers should first show praise to God and then possibly ask for God's guidance.
I have only recently started going to church and was fortunate to join a Free Lutheran Home Mission Church. My parents were Catholic and I was never comfortable with all the rituals the Catholics have added to the Bible and why they pray to the Virgin Mary instead of God Himself makes no sense to me, along with the ritual of confessing your sins to the Father. Is this for his personal enjoyment, since he's forbidden to have a wife? Then I dated someone who attended a Baptist Church and I couldn't deal with all the restrictions the Baptist add to the Bible. The Bible doesn't say don't drink, Jesus drank wine, the Bible says don't be a drunkard. The Lutheran Church I belong to now teaches that the Bible was written by God through man and that we should follow it, without adding or taking anything away.
If you are serious about wanting to be a Christian now is the best time to get one of the Bibles divided into 365 readings and begin to read it everyday.
God Bless!

Can you honestly say that you have read all of the Bible? Have you brought your problems and questions to a main denomination minister? If you answered "no" to either of the above you haven't tried very hard. What is SERTANT things?? Do you mean certain things? Not knowing what those things are makes addressing them pretty hard. Being a Christian isn't an easy thing. People may well ridicule you. Read about the disciples and Jesus Himself. Were they ridiculed, killed? YES. It's easier to be a non-believer. It's easier to be an atheist. To do so means you do NOTHING. How hard is it to do nothing? God HAS come to you in a unique way to offer you salvation. It's a done deal but it's up to you to find what He did, accept Him, believe in Him, put your faith in Him. What did He do to save YOU?? Read the Bible, talk to true Christians and find out.

Imagine an important CEO in an important building on the top floor with security all over the building. Almost everyone has to make an appointment and be scanned to see him. One little kid can run past and high five the guards straight into that office and jump straight on to his lap without fear or favour. That kid can be you if you are willing to put down the corporate law books and understand that He wants to be your Father and have a relationship with you! Intellect is a curse in this matter and it stopped me for years. Here is a big tip..surrender before you waste more time. You can work out the details later and He will even help you understand!

listen iv heard your argument quite a lot and i think that instead of thinking that you're cursed you should see yourself as lucky because you have seen that what you have been trying so desperately to believe is not the truth... simply because there is so much error in it but don't worry because i think that i may have something for you because even you yourself have said that christianity is not the one for you and i think that you are pretty convinced. nothing any preist can say will have you think otherwise. Christianity i think has overcomplicated things upto the point that half of its doctrines make no sense.. we cannot be sure that they are even the words of Jesus as they have been changed so much. i have a single religion in which i am sure that a person of your intelligence will agree with me when i say that it is the sole truth after studying it. Islam. and at first sight you may think what you want about the so called *oppression of women* *the Quran as a mixture of stuff from the bible and torah* *the terrosrism* but believe me what you know of the religion is nothing. Firstly its beauty lies in its simplicity and practicality. there is not 3 gods or 2 for that matter.. only a single God..(in arabic Allah) who possesses absolutelly no human attributes.. He is not comaparable to His creation. We do not worship the prophet (muhammad) but he was our guide. a righteous man but man nonetheless. In Islam.. every human being has a direct link to God by worshipping Him through prayers. there are no middle person as there is in chirstianity whom we confess to etc. there is no hierarchy in pure Islam as there is in other religions. Even an Imam is just the most learned man opted by people to lead prayers. Islam is the only religion that is completely monostheistic.. i believe that if you are looking for answers than seek it in islam. once you have found it you wil see yourself looking at a truth from an adult's perspective and not a children's fairytale that people delude themselves to believe as fact. i hope this will help you.

Perhaps read Ephesians, the first chapter. If you think your intelligence is a challenge for God, then how can you submit to him. I don't know you but perhaps there is something in that remark. It's often said that God works in mysterious ways, or no one knows the mind of God, both are true I feel sure. There are things that make people meet other people, fate as it is called and perhaps with your intelligence you can compute that it is simply not the proper time for the Holy Spirit to convict you and perhaps the way or whys you pray is not what is needed. You see a God that created you can see in you as well. My best answer for you is it is God's time, not ours. Today your world could change, when and if it does, remember you asked..Peace

The problem with being intelligent, is one often starts to see things for what they are. religion is an implementation of the state to control the masses. Punish someone in the afterlife as a deterent to commiting crimes in life. Hell, I think the Egyptians did it better, at least they had some cool rituals (mumification is so much cooler than transconfiguration). Or, to hell with it all, God loves me, I love God, shining happy people holding hands. Free will means free dellusions.

i'm hoping you will supply up regretting which you're an clever, severe logician. you're uncommon, and could with a bit of luck placed your particular skills to reliable use. Christianity isn't quite conducive to clever severe thinkers. ask your self why you desire to be christian? Is it friends and kinfolk, the gentle concept gadget, the church activities, the ethical doctrine, the historic previous? those may be super factors of any faith, yet once you do not have self assurance the muse of the religion itself, then you definately will go nuts faking it. and then ensure in case you will get those suitable issues with out each and every of the goofy nonsense in contact in christianity. you will would desire to renounce some issues to get others - so it probable isn't an person-friendly determination. i'd recommend which you talk approximately a various faith, or none in any respect. Unitarian Universalists have many of the best factors of church, with out lot of the fairy thoughts and dogma. They even have atheist individuals. And Humanism is a noticeably ethical concept gadget, frequently suitable for agnostics and atheists. yet there is purely approximately no social shape between Humanists. suited needs.

There is nothing that says being a Christain makes life easier... as a matter of fact I have found ife to be harder as a Christian...
I can sum it all up with this, "If your not meeting the devil head on your heading the wrong direction."
As far as prayer goes, trust me he is listening... You don't always get what you ask for, and I believe thats because God wants us to put our faith in him... if he gave us everything then what would that turn us into? Kind of like if your parents gave you everything you ever asked for then what spoiled brats we would all be...
You have to turn your life over to "Christ" not just "God" - Jesus is the only salvation...
