I just need to know if it would work or if it would damage the dvd player? Please help

A CD lens cleaner will work alright, since it is the same mechanism for CD and DVD players.

I don't know about that but the best thing you can use is a little rubbing alcohol. I do all the time with my scratched DVDS and it makes them work like new. Get alittle piece of toilet paper and put alittle rubbing alcohol on it. Then rub the DVD all around. Then use the dry part of the toilet paper and wipe it dry. I blow on it alittle to help. Hope this helps
