I have been told by Muslims that the Quran is the holy writ for them, that Muhammed freed the slaves and all women, and that each sentence is fully understandable, if read COMPLETELY. What this means is that there will always be extremists, because those in power only take a piece of the sentence and say to their followers that this is the word of Muhammed. If this is true, it is no different from the Christian bible.
On the one hand, its a travesty. On the other hand, it proves that the temptation of power is the same for everyone. This means we are all equal. Isn't that great?

there is nothing wrong with having different versions as long as the meaning is same or at least if people sincere in following logic, humanity and faithful beliefs. in Islam there is strict rules about the book, that's why islam suffer terrorism and extremism and violence. if people think that quran could be wrong or right or have problems or misinterpreted, then the world will live better. islam has one book, with many different interpretations.

there are at least 4 versions of the quran making their rounds as we speak. So stop with the lies! and there are as many versions of the bible as there are languages. the different versions are because often the translation of words makes themeaning different, so the words have to be changed . The basic principle is the same.

There are different translations. The Greek New Testament has remained largely the same unless older manuscripts are discovered. If more Christians were able to read Greek, then there wouldn't be so many translations. But people simply want to have the Bible in their native language complimentary to their modern vocabulary.

There are many TRANSLATIONS of the Bible (and the Koran for that matter). You'll have to define what you mean by "version". Do you mean the Catholic version (which contains the Apocryphal books) vs. the Protestant version (which does not)?

it depends on where you live, and which branch of christianity you follow. over the centuries, there have been many translations, and versions. and each of the major sects has a different version they use. i know of a dozen different ones in the local bookstore alone.

I only offered the hot American Bible. it somewhat is truly superb, leather-based sure version. i found it somewhat complicated. The Books are titled on the fold edge ultimate of the pages vs the outer edge ultimate. Thumbing is greater tricky. I even have life utility study Bible. i can not get it removed from my Husband. I borrow it frequently.
