more than likely the speed sensor in the gearbox than the instrument cluster, if it is the speed sensor , good luck as they are a pig to get out, only a pin holding it in but pins sieze in or snap, then sensor stick in gearbox, and worst case that snaps off and have to have gearbox out to remove, a nightmare!! take to ford garage and get them to be patient with it!!

It usally is the Speedo sensor which as everyone else has told you on the other answers is on the back of the gear box. But it could also be your instrument cluster. they are a common fault on focus.
I would advise you to take it to your local dealer and have them investigate due to the fact the fault you are reporting could be anything and without seeing the car we cant be more specific

My husband says you have a speed sensor problem,which is in the transmission.

not to sure about the focus (havnt owned one) but it could be sumthing to do with the gearbox
