I have three cats. Two of them use the same litter box because they are both siblings, while the older cat uses her own. Anyway, the siblings always seem to come out smelling LIKE the litter box ( aka their paws and body smell like urine and poo.)
Any suggestions, besides bathing them or spraying them with anything chemical to stop this? Thanks!

I DO clean the litter box daily. I clean it in the morning when I wake up and in the evening before I go to bed...duh.

I too have an indoor cat, but don't have any problem with smells, first of all you need a decent litter. I buy Catsan clumping litter. I also have a litter locker which if you're in the UK is available from Pets at Home. It's a convenient and hygenic way to dispose of used cat litter, it can hold up to two weeks worth of litter and it has a spring loaded shutter to the storage area which is 99.7% airtight, thus eliminating any smell from it. Using these in conjunction with each other is actually far more cost effective than buying a cheaper litter and cleaning the whole lot out once a week. You simply use the scoop (provided with it) to remove the clumped bit of litter, place it in the top part of the litter locker, pull the shutter and the soiled litter falls into the storage compartment, the shutter closes and you close the lid. It only takes seconds and leaves your tray clean and smell-free. The bags contained in the locker are 7-ply and very strong and airtight and refills are availalbe (1 refill lasts 6-8 weeks).

Switch to the Crystal Litter and read all box instructions. It absorbs the smells of urine and poo. Only bad thing about it is it hurts to step on it should some get out of the box. You also still have to be dillagent about the cleaning.

get a new brand of litter for sure...definately look for a multiple cat strength type with the odor blocker stuff...if it just their paws you can like grab a baby wipe an dclean their paws..i bath my cats about once a month to help keep them from smelling funny..or pretty much whenever i notice they dont smell to good (i recommend having a friend or someone help you with the baths tho)...

Good cat litter is the key! Even if it cost a few dollars more it's worth it. I also got this stuff for my cat it's like baby powder but it's called dry bath and you just put it on em and fluff em.....LOL. It works great. I got it at Walmart so its easy to find.

Change the litter... I like the Scoop Away kind with the carbon in it. Also, make sure you're using a litterbox filter.
You could also bathe them, but if you're like me, you won't bathe your cats in water unless you don't mind being scratched to high h*ll. lol Luckily, you can just buy the regular wipes OR just get regular generic baby wipes and use that on your cat... they work. If it's safe enough for a baby, it's safe for the cat. I used them on one of my cats (the cat isn't dead... he just lives with my parents in another state now, but anyhoot), I used them on him with no problem. They sell cheap ones at walmart.

Wipe them down with a moist towellette that you can buy from the pet store. Wipe their paws and bum after they do #2 especially. The sensation of being cleaned after usig the litter box will hopefully trigger their cat sense of cleanliness. In time, they will learn to keep tidier = they are still very young I suppose?
I wipe my cat's bum everytime he does #2. He has come to expect this becuase he'll come to me and sits beside me (like he wants to lick his bum) and looks at me expectantly. Then I go wipe his bum for him (he can't reach it anymore coz he's too fat around the middle).

Use a type of litter that doesn't smell, like silicone crystal litter. And change it often. It all starts by the fact that the litter smells. I don't mean to accuse you or anything, but our litter of that type never smells.

Changing the litter could help, but if it keeps pursisting I suggest buying kitty wipes, and just wipe them. They may have not been able to develop the proper cleaning skills when they were younger, and now they tend to be more dirty than your older cat.

buy different cat litter. i did that and it helps a lot. another thing is you might have to change it more. and don't bathe a cat. last i knew that was a bad idea. they hate it. IF you have to use something then get a glade plug in or something and plug it in. use two if you have to. let me know how it works!
