Some atheists are Buddhists... it's an atheistic religion. Personally, from what little I know of it, I see it as more of a philosophical way of life. I don't agree with it though - the reincarnation and such.
To be truthful, atheists only have one thing in common (which you should know by now). Besides that, probably every atheist has a different answer/view on Buddhism.

Of all the religions, Buddhism is the single that I appreciate the main. It promises a direction that may not judgemental, divisive, or condemning. over the final months, I easily have examine many books approximately Buddhism and others via the Dalai Lama. the religion is so non violent and significant, and that i've got began to enforce various aspects, which includes meditation (it truly is truly relaxing, and that i are turning out to be to nicely known myself lots greater efficient). I easily have been lots happier presently, and that i will sense my view of the international changing for the greater efficient. i don't think of i'm waiting to grow to be an entire-fledged Buddhist, nonetheless. not yet, besides. i comprehend what you advise approximately keen to transform, nonetheless. i might surely like to talk with a monk sometime. they seem to be such wonderful human beings.

I think the underlying principles, overwhelming history of non-violence (compared to other religions) and the basic natural wisdom which Buddism perpetuates is overall much better and well-developed than other religions/beliefs. Of course there is also the fact that buddism doesnt claim there is any omnipotent all powerful being/s which created everything. That sets it apart, and makes Buddism a very interesting belief system. I am not an athiest but rather a spiritual agnostic... I am very interested in the principles, morals, and wisdom seeking nature of Buddism in some ways my own personal beliefs could be compared with Buddism because I do believe there is a spiritual state of enlightenment that can be obtained through the pursuit of knowledge and the rejection of ignorance.

I was an atheist. Then I felt incomplete and studied the sutras of Buddhism. Then I felt complete...to an extent. I agree with the previous answers, yes, Buddhism does not believe in God or Gods, that is, monotheism or polytheism, or theism at all, but in sentient beings, or mere being's karmic potential accumulating over time, to explain how the world came to be, in that sense, you can say Buddhism needs no God to create the universe.
However, depends how deep they are when it comes to contemplating things such as religion, they may just merely disbelieve in God's existence, end of story, as they do not care. Others, disbelieve because it contradicts their system of thought and the principles which they have established to be credible and factual.

An atheist would have to know the actual belief of a Buddhist in order to say anything about Buddhism. Budha is not a GOD - rather, Budha was a live person who lived his life a certain way. The way he lived his life is what Buddhism teaches.

Much of Western Buddhism is atheistic (or at least doesn't require belief in a god). I think that it is extremely helpful to some of the people who practice it--I don't think that many of its spiritual principles are objectively true, but I can see its value to people.

Do you enjoy Lying and getting people into trouble?
Do you Like to kill living Beings and have a party over it?
Do you like to Steal and be proud of it?
Do you like to have Sexual Misconduct ?
if you dont, then you are practicing Buddhism, Buddhism is actually a way of life. Compassion should be the path!

I don't understand why Atheist single out Christians. There are several other religions out there for them to hate, so why just aim at Jesus?
I'm not saying you do, but many of your compatriots do. If you are Atheist, you believe in NO religion. So selecting one religion is more about hate than it is about a lack of faith.

there are lots of versions of Buddism too. many don't teach a god, but some revere the buddha as a god. there are some extreme forms as well...as with other religion
I don't know as much about it as christianity or islam. the few buddhists who come here are "mostly harmless"...to quote Douglas Adams.

an atheist says the same thing, regardless of the religion, or he isn't an atheist, but an agnostic.
