Unless you are excessively overweight, I doubt you will drop 20 in a month or two. That is dangerous even to put on that much weight that fast.
If you diet, you won't have the energy to exercise.
What you have to do is eat in moderation and eat smart. Cut out the fast foods(burgers, fries, pizza, ) and cut out the soft drink colas.
Enemys here are fats, carbohydrates, sugars.
Eat foods that are as near to the source as possible. Veges on the vege shelf came from the farmer from the dirt. Good
Veges in a can came off a truck, which came from a factory, which came from a production line , which came from a processing line which came from the farm from the dirt. Too far
Meat on the meat counter came from the animal. meat in a can the long route. Sure there is more work on your part in prep. but it is the only way to avoid the fats, excess carbs, sugars.
Those are the problems in processed foods and fast foods. It is hard in the beginning. but your energy will increase. No no, I don't just mean celery sticks. There is alot of veges a fruits. Try them all.

How to lose weight and keep it off!
Eat it if:
1) It has fins or feathers or is seafood
2) It is yellow, green, or red and vegetable
3) It is fruit
4) It is whole wheat
5) It is low fat dairy
6) It is nuts
No limits on amounts of these.
Do not eat any white starchy food.
Do not eat butter or oil.
Limit sweets unless made with Splenda.
Use no carbonated beverages.
Cook this way: Grill, bake, poach, broil, boil…
Do not ever eat any fried food: if you do,
don’t ask me why you didn’t lose weight.
Exercise, the equivalent of 20 minutes of fast walking every day. Get serious. Get the weight off.

Assuming you do not exercise at all right now.... start with 30 mins of cardio (running, biking, swimming, eliptical...) at a level that you are comfortable with (this may just be a fast walk if you are not in shape), and 30 mins of calisthenics or weight training (push-ups and lunges..., free weights or machines), again, at a level that you are comfortable with and not over-exerting yourself.
You should do this four days a week. Each week following, you should increase your intensity by 10 percent. You may increase you cardio time if you'd like... but, it is not necessary. You will accomplish more in a short and intense run, than in a long jog. A good way of increasing your intensity is to use interval training (one minute of jogging, followed by one minute of running, followed by one minute of sprinting. repeat until you complete your 30-min workout.)
If you have the opportunity to attend circuit training at a gym you will likely meet your goals with hour-long classes (depending on the intensity of the teacher).
As for diet: cut out all trans fat, and most saturated fat from your diet. No processed food (american cheese, t.v. dinners, FAST FOOD, canned vegetables). No deep fried foods. Do not cut out carbs, as you need the energy to keep up with your workout. Use lean cuts of meat. And eat lots of veggies (fresh and dark colored are the best. Frozen veggies will do.) Light colored cheeses are better (mozerrella, swiss...). Do not starve yourself. Don't even allow yourself to get really hungry. As soon as you feel the slightest bit hungry, eat a healthy snack. If you wait until you're starving, you will gorge yourself and likely be too impatient to wait for your healthy chicken breast to cook, and go to McDonalds instead. Allow yourself one cheat day a week to go out with friends and pig out.

Increase your metabolic rate, cut down on your carbo and fat intake. exercise.
Metabolic rate could be increased with injecting yourself with thyroid hormones, but highly advisible.
All the usual bull and 10 pounds is reachable.
On the other hand, how long you take to gain that weight, you would likely need twice that time to lose it.
Good luck.
