It's not on stage or anything, but in theatre the term "love" is thrown around a lot. He's also kissed my hand, but I'm not sure if that's just him being cool or him having actual feelings for me.

If he said he loves you and kissed your hand then he's gay.
If he said he loves you and then in the play kissed your hand he might love you.
Another thing if kissing you on the hand is cool then that's just weird.
The question you have to ask yourself is. Do you have feelings for him. If not then who cares.

Depends on how long have you known each other and how well do you know each other. But my guess tells me if you aren't involved and he is trying to get you to go out with him or do "things" with him then he would throw it out there just to get you to

if you really wanna know..ask him! and observe his behaviour..is he like that to other girls or just you? the way he looks at you and behaves around you..you can pick up little hints here and there if you're observant enough..
