Medical marijuana - what is your opinion?

I think it should be medically legal everywhere. Rhode Island is the only New England state that allows MM to chronic pain sufferers. Maine and Vermont should follow suit. (I am in MA and have severe chronic pain. Meds don't help.) Your opinion counts - please help..

I believe it should be an option but I have no Faith in the system. I was using the Durigesic patch for 5 years and we get this part D for prescription and they wont pay for that. they will pay for the $25.00 a month pill that you use every 4-6 hours. I have chronic pain and I believe if something helps we should be allowed to have it.

You've asked this question before and it has been answered before. The flaw in your logic is that marijuana is not "legal" in the state. It may have been "decriminalized" (which is very different from legalizing it) or allowed for medicinal purposes, but the general population (aka you!) is not allowed to use it. If marijuana were truly "legal" in your state, which it isn't, there would be no reason for you to worry about your illegal usage. The officer would have no reason to search since the drug is "legal". The smell of marijuana, which is easily identifiable and greatly increases the chances that evidence is being destroyed, can give the officer probable cause and exigency to enter and search. If the person is using the drug "medicinally", then nothing will happen. But if not, then the person can be either cited (if it's decriminalized) or arrested.

I'm a nurse. To some extent I agree. There are so many people suffering from diseases and can't afford medication, it helps them deal with pain. Also people are just going to do what they want to anyway, so why not make it legal. However on the other hand I wouldn't want children to get a hold of it and ruin their lives, after all they are our future.

It helps with the appetite and that is good. It should be legal, but there are still people who say "They didn't use it before, so why do they need it now?" Oregon has taken it one step further, as some other states do--They provide and assist in RIGHT TO DIE PROCEDURES to end the patients suffering if what they have is terminal.

It's no worse than most of the prescription drugs out there now (and probably a lot safer than most). It can help alleviate a HUGE range of symptoms. My opinion is "Why the hell isn't it already legal?!?"
