I'm considering my options. I've researched dentures and got all the information I need to know...except the "really important" stuff...Will my husband be able to tell I am wearing dentures? Also, will my *ahem* "love life" be affected? I'm 36 and concerned what my 31 year old husband is going to think of me. I know I will LOOK better, but I'm worried about my relationship with my hubby. any advice from people who have gone what I am going through.

Please no, hillbilly comments. I'm from Chicago. I'm just a victim of heredity

My husband will keep loving me and of course, he will *know* I have dentures, I just want to make sure that they will not become a problem for him...we have been married 8 years and still kiss and "make out" like teenagers....I'm also concerned about being able to keep the dentures in during (shhhhh) fallatio.

I am a married woman who has had full dentures for 6 years, my husband was part of the entire evolution and continues to be a very supportive partner. I included him in every aspect of my transition to dentures.

We are very active socially and sexually and for the sexual part- sometimes my teeth are in, sometimes they are out. It is all about what you are comfortable with. Some people who wear dentures never let their significant others see them when they take their teeth out, others get past it.

And it is possible to keep your dentures in place during fellatio. Practice makes perfect or is practice is just fun?

Kissing With Dentures

No is the answer to the first question, unless they are cramming their tongue in your mouth, they won't know. Or if your dentures don't fit correctly and they flop around in your mouth, then they might know. Hubby won't care, he'll probably like the BJ's more with your teeth out (no accidental scrapes). BTW I have had full dentures for almost a year, and no girls that I have kissed said anything was different. Also, the wait to have all that work done is probably the worst part of the whole ordeal, just thinking whats this gonna be like, whats that gonna be like??? After everything was done and over with for me, It was nothing like what I expected (in a good way that is). Good luck!!!!

Dentures have come a long way since they first came out. Originally, all the teeth in the dentures were perfectly aligned and it was pretty obvious for the elderly who had dentures (a series of perfectly aligned white teeth) and who didn't. Now they are doing clever things like adding "imperfections" to make it a little less obvious.
If you're married, though, your husband would eventually find out if you had dentures or not. It's nothing to be ashamed of. It's a tool for healthier living.

I m 39 years old and just got my upper dentures two months ago. It s still kind of new to me but understand them now. I m not married nor have a boyfriend. However I do have male friends who I spend some time with. I m not the kind of girl that likes a steady partner (I ve tried and felt confined). I did tell my male friends ahead of time that I have dentures. Some liked it some was glad I told them so they were not surprised but they all still stayed with me. Yes, one did say it s getting use to.

I once dated a lovely girl who wore dentures. She told me about them the first time we met even before we started dating so there was no surprise later on. I couldn't tell she was wearing them when we kissed, although when "making out like teenagers" (were weren't too much older than that at the time), I could definitely feel the hardware in her mouth. It was a little strange at first but I got used to it. I'm sure your husband will too.

My uncle had such great teeth that in his later years when he had to go in for surgery the nurse told him he'd have to take out his dentures. He told her they weren't dentures and she wouldn't believe him! So he said "Fine, if you can get them out, they're yours." Of course she gave up pretty quickly. The point being that you can't always tell. And really, unless you're considering this guy as a father for your prospective child, why would you care about his dental health anyway?

Well, your husband will know you have them, but if that's what you really need to do I think it would affect your love life if you leave them out a lot. Sorry but it's just not an attractive thing because it changes the whole shape of a person's face and makes them look 40 years older when they're not wearing them. People say they do leave them out sometimes because they get uncomfortable. If I were you I would consider the other options first.

I am 39 and have been wearing dentures since 2000. If your husband really loves you, i don't think he will mind at all. Using denture powder or adhesive,(i call them my teeth glue.) lol will help alot and will take alot of that stress away. Ok?

HELLO DEEBOP,
ONLY THROUGH DEEP FRENCH KISSING AND BY EXPLORING YOUR PALATE BY YOUR PARTNER CAN YOU POSSIBLY TELL.
WHY?
BECAUSE SOFT TISSUE AS THE PALATE FEELS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THAN THE HARD PLASTIC FROM A DENTURE WHICH COVERS THE PALATE.
I WOULD THINK THAT HAVING DENTURES SHOULD NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN REAL LOVE IF IT'S THERE.
