I feel hot in my face. I've had shingles before, and it was in my face. Last time I went to the dr, I was fine. Could I be lactose intollerant? My husband & I have been trying to narrow it down to a certain few things -- monosodium glutamate, salt, peanuts..
It's very annoying & what am I doing wrong? I drink water & iced tea at work-that's it. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thank you.

You don't give much description, but have you thought of rosacea? It is usually on the face. It tends to be worse if you are hot or eat something hot, temperature or spicy. My daughter has this problem.

If you're lactose intolerant I doubt you'd be getting a rash, If you have a milk allergy then yes I can see you getting a rash.

Lactose intolerance is completely different that a milk allergy. I know two little boys that get red hot cheeks, fever, and rash on the face when they consume anything with milk, because they're allergic to the milk.

I'm lactose intolerant, its when your body doesn't have the enzymes to break down the complex sugar's in milk, which causes cramping, and gas, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting.

Completely different.

I had a similar reaction with a face cream that I had used for years and then they improved it and when I used this "new and improved" face cream ended up breaking up in a rash that made my face feel like it was in front of a heater all the time. It itched so bad too. I scratched until it hurt so bad to scratch I couldn't stand it. Nothing gave me relief. At the time I didn't know that it was the face cream I was allergic to so I kept using it. Well, it got worse. A few days later I woke up with my face so swollen it looked like it was blown up with air like in the cartoons. I could barely open my eyes. I went to urgent care, they gave me steroids. I went to my doctor and he prescribed the same thing but I was done with the steroids they made me like I was going crazy. He then referred me to an allergist. I was only allergic to a few things. Nothing drastic. I stopped using all my make up but continued to use my favorite face cream because my face was so flaky dry (not knowing that was the cause of it!!) This went on for almost three months! I finally quit putting anything on my face because it hurt to even touch it. Even rubbing my favorite cream became agonizing. It took a long time for my face to get better. When my face did get better I used my face cream again and the very next day I woke up with my face so swollen my eyes were almost closed shut. Just to make sure that that was what I was allergic to I used it again a few months later but not all over my face this time. Sure enough the next morning my eye was swollen and itchy. It took a couple of days to get rid of that!
