Doing all sins in the name God and at the end also console one self that he is being sacrificed for an act of God are all the making of ones ignorance born of Ego. Until and unless the Ego is understood and redeemed, one can not redeem his sins whether one holds the copy of any scripture.

I totally agree that Saddam Hussein deserved to hang for his crimes against humanity. So do the others who will follow him within the next day or so.
He not not carried or dragged to the gallows.
I am sure you have seen this in the footage of the death sentence being carried out.
In a statement by an American military spokesman,it was stated that "he was composed and accepting of his fate".
His hands were firmly tied behind him at elbows and wrists and no Holy Koran was visible in his hands. That is not to say that one was not placed in on him somewhere. As he had that right,be it his only one.
This is exactly the same procedure that would be given a convicted and sentenced Roman Catholic receiving the Last Rites from a Priest, and then going to their end with a Bible in their pocket.
Someone of the likes of Timothy McVay or David Korresh (if he had lived to be executed) would have the same right if they requested it.
Saddam Hussein is gone from this world.
It is now over,at last.
Evoking more discussion serves no purpose than sensationalism.
What is needed now is healing.
Not continued and unnessessary, scratching at the scars to keep them raw!.

Saddam was a Muslim. By Muslim belief, as long as a person asks for forgiveness and declares that there is no G-d but G-d, he will enter into heaven. Whether I believe that this can redeem such a horrible person as he was, is not the issue. He believed it.

There can be only ONE Almighty God.
The 'Allah' of the quran translates as a title...God. There is no personal name.
Does this 'version' of God allow killing. Yes it does apparently. Revenge is O.K.
On this I stand to be corrected.
But if the ONE true God is the God of the Bible, then Saddam stands condemned. Because in all his life, this one he ignored.
And even if Saddam is resurrected [ Rev. 20; 12,13] would he then change his ways. We do not know.
His death has paid for his sins, so his judgement on resurrection will be based on his reaction to the TRUE God's new system. Something that the God of Islam seems unaware.

No one really will know of redemption until they stand in front of Him and his account are revealed to him whether it is Saddam or Saint X.

None of us can say for sure whether he was squared with God or not when he died, but I think its safe to say that many people here on earth still consider him very un-redeemed.

Leaving the spiritual issues aside and focusing on the psychological - believing in heaven makes it easier to face your mortality.

I doubt that would be all it takes to save his soul. He'll be in the Muslim penitential hell for the next 100,000 years at LEAST before his soul is clean enough for Heaven... But Allah is compassionate and merciful. Hussain won't be damned forever. (Unfortunately...)
