I'm a single Dad with FULL custody of my 2 year old girl..Her mother is, by choice, far away in another state and I was wondering if 'seeing' her mother on computer video conferencing(IChat) would be disturbing to the baby? Would she think her Mommy lives in the computer? Could it be potentially damaging?

Probably no more than baby thinks that Elmo lives in the television... or that mommy lives in the telephone. Give your child some more credit.

I say hooray for modern technology that can connect the absent parent and the child...

and just think, you don't have to arrange awkward visits/swaps with your ex. -Good Luck

its just like the tv so i say try it once and if the child reacts bad the first time end it right there.

i think growing up without a mom would be more damanging than having her talk to her mom on IChat.

good luck.

It could be damaging. She may wonder why her mum is far away.I have custody of my daughter and my husband wants me to have live chats on the computer to his daughter. Neither of us feel comfortable.
