I get this quite often when I am stressed. My Doctor recommended the vitamin L-lysine
( I take one pill twice a day when I get the ulcers) I also mix 2 tsp. of benadryl and 2 tsp. of either malanta or Maalox together then swish in my mouth for a minute and then spit it out. I do this several times a day as needed. The benadryl numbs the mouth and the malanta/Maalox coats ans sooths the ulcers.

Hope that helps

Meli, had the best solution. Mouth ulcers can be extremely painful. Adding salt to your wash is like putting Iodine into an open wound. An ulcer is a cavity within the mouth cellular membrane which has broken down by the chemistry in your body. Your body is what you put into it. also, stress can cause cellular membranes to create a cavity( shingles a nerve disorder) also extremely painful. Personally, I would stay away from acid foods or drinks. Look into a mirror and say to yourself," are you stressed (marriage, job etc.) Shingles and a bed sore are a good example of an open ulcer. They cure themselves from within.
See a specialist for these type of problems. I do know a salt wash will not kill the viruses which creates these nasty ulcers. Being there and done that. Look for a permanent cure and not a band aid . My wife just passed away from lung cancer. She was not a smoker. Tell your lover to quit smoking and live with his ulcers, he will live longer. Also have your lover wash his mouth with some straight Tequila; He will sleep so much better.

I am allergic to flouride and get them whenever I use any toothpaste with flouride. I use something called Rembrandt for Canker Sores and it works very well. They also make powders to gargle with for the mouth sores. Or you can mix one-half alcohol to one-half peroxide and use that as a rinse. Also, mentadent, the toothpaste with baking soda and peroxide will help. Good luck.
