Ok, so I have recently been reunited with a friend from high school (7 years ago) and things are going great. We totally click and both feel positive about the relationship..the downfall? He's about to go into the military while I'm off at college. What are some suggestions for things I can either do for or send to him to let him know that I'm thinking about him always?

My boyfriend and I were dating for almost three years when I went out of state to college and he joined the Marines. Depending on what branch he joined, the contact you two will have while he is in training will differ. I know that my boyfriend could only send letters when he had time which was about once a week or less, but my friend whose boyfriend is in the army gets to talk to him for ten minutes every Sunday. It was hard, but I wrote my boyfriend every single night (for 13 weeks). He said that the highlights of boot camp were mail calls because he'd get a stack of letters each time. It got to the point where I could write a good, 2 page letter in 10 minutes! Depending on where he's stationed and what kind of job he has you could see each other as often as every two weeks or only ever few months. Care packages are always a great idea, also make sure you both have good cell phone plans!

There are tons of care package website, like http://www.beyondbookmarks.com

Send letters, pictures, and I'm sure since you guys have known each other awhile you guys will have lots to talk about! Long distance relationships are hard, but don't let anyone tell you that it'll never work!

Okay, been there done that! My ex bf went to the UK and in the beginning he phoned every day but gradually the phone calls stopped coming. its difficult to continue a relationship long distance. He will start a whole new life down there and us humans get stuck on our everyday lives. Its difficult not having him there to hold and talk to and get to know just that little bit better.

If i can give you advice i would say don't expect too much from him. Give yourself a bit of freedom because your whole life should not be put on hold from him.
