Keep some of their favorite treat on you...in a ziplock baggie or something, in a pocket, so they aren't charging at you to get at it :) and when they choose to jump up on visitors take them off by the collar while saying 'no jumping' firmly...have the treat ready to give each of them as soon as you have removed them and then praise them well. You'll have to do this a number of times but they will get the idea...eventually all you'll have to do is say 'no jumping' before they think about doing it and they'll listen...again when they do, reward them. Keep the rewards up til they automatically know not to jump on people.
They won't require the treats for ever but this is a more rewarding and faster technique than using a snapper or becoming too frustrated with their actions.
The treats should be large enough that they can enjoy them but small enough that they aren't eating a whole bag of goodies during one persons visit.
Good luck with this...

honestly it seems a little harsh at first but it works quickly.
I have a hound dog that is happy (to say the least) when people come over. What i was taught to do is to pop you knee into their chest when they jump. You dont slam them, you just pop you knee out. you dont want to hurt them you just want them to realize its something they wont want to do.
After a few times your going to have to encourage them to jump up by calling them up to your face, when they jump..knee them again until when you encourage them regardless, they dont do it. also inform your friends and family to do the same. just tell them not to slam them...also, if you say "NO" currently when they jump, continue this along with the knee...they will learn..
nothing is more embarrassing then when your dog jumps on someone that does not want it.
you could always get a shock collar!

any time after 6-8 weeks teach them to keep their feet on the ground
we trained our rotti by just not letting him do it. you can use your knee in his chest as a reminder, just not too hard. also when people come over it may be a good idea to put them in a room so they can't jump on people until they are trained

Don't worry, mine do that all the time. What I do is get a bottle of lemon juice mixed with water, and spray them in the face when they do something naughty. It won't hurt them, dogs just simply hate the smell of lemon juice.
Believe it or not, they will obey, no matter what they're doing, if you use this method.

everytime they jump on you hit them with your knee. knock them on their back point your finger at them and scream no! in their face. you won't have to do this too many times before they get the idea. strangers won't be to likely to do this, so you'll have to drag them down by the scruff of their neck's and show them who is boss.
dogs live in packs and they need an alpha to lead them. that's your job.
