It is not full of contradictions. Someone told you that, that obviously has an agenda. I have an idea, read it through, and do a thorough study, you will be amazed at how cohesive it is for having different authors. By the way, it makes sense, that different eyewitnesses, share how they witnessed the events, not just copied the other guys. The New Testament fills many prophecies of the old Testament too. Hard to do if full of contradictions. Happy Kid, only Jesus actually ascended. Do you know what that means? Rises up into heaven., etc. If you are taken, that is not ascended, etc. Don't assume things about the words you are not fully clear on. It will really confuse you not in just reading books, but in your life as well. I mean no offense, and I wish you the best in your search for undertanding if that is what you desire.
JohnJ, good point, but one thing you missed. To ascend, you do it yourself. Elijah didn't make the whirlwind and make some great escape. God obviously did that. To ascend, you do it yourself, by your own power. No one else did, or could do that. Thanks for the points though. It makes people think, including me:)

For the same reason the LA Times, W.A. Post, and Der Spiegel can't get the same stories right.
Mt. is written for Jews so he shapes things accordingly. His "majestic view of God" mean most of Mark's "some"s are changed to All. Luke is for the Gentiles so he has a different concern.
Then add up that everyone thought Jesus would return w/in 10 years so no one bothered to write anything down, the fact that the Gospels most likely were written down 70 or so years later, in Greek of which we have thousands of mss. scraps but no original documents. These were hand copied for 1500 years - and I think we have a pretty good document. Oh - verses and spaces between words did not exist either.
My computers in 20 years can no longer read the 5 1/4 disc.
By the way, as a scholar, I am frightfully curious where you find a contradiction.

To answer Happykid:
The verse in John is referring to Jesus's body being sent up to heaven, while his spirit would remain on earth until he returns for the revelation. This is different than the ones in the old testament, since those were both spirit and body.

To all of the Christians who are responding rudely to the question:
Please stop acting this way. You are not showing love. If you act aggressively towards people you will turn them off forever, and that is not our goal in life.

I hope that cleared it up a little. Have a nice night!

Personally...I have no idea if it is full of contradictions...or not...

One thing I do know though, there's a difference between Christianity and Jehovah's Witnesses.

Christianity believes in the Trinity, whereas the Jehovah's Witnesses deny it because they find it inconsistent. The Trinity is where Jesus, God and the Holy Spirit are one. Likewise, to the Jehovah's Witness, it would be discerned that by the Trinity...

God came down from his high heaven to get Himself killed by his creations on the crucifix, so that they wouldn't have to rot in the bowels of hell...it's funny, but hey, you're talking about God. God is infinite, omniscient, omnipotent...

Whatever he says...goes, why?

Because he's God.

Because it is not the original New Testament, it was all misconstrued by king Constantine and his click of scribes to control the citizens. Go to gospelofthenazirenes. for the original New Testament before the evil doings of Constantine.

There is not one single contradiction in the Bible. You may be just misunderstanding or misinterpreting. Read texts in context. Chapters before and after to get true meaning.

It seems to me that it only contradicts if taken out of context. Just like any other story would.

There are none to be found in either Testament. You are either unable to read or losing your sense of balance.
