During my pregnancy, I gained 55 lbs. My baby is now 9 months old and My stomach still looks stretched. Will it continue to form back to normal or am I damaged for life?

with diet and exercise it will. also, breast feeding (or pumping) for at least 1 year dramatically helps with weight loss.

If you've got alot of extra skin and stretch marks, then it probably will never go all the way back to normal (without cosmetic surgery) but if you focus on the tummy area more, doing sit-ups and other target exercises, then you could definitely show some improvement. But start soon, it gets harder and harder to fix it if you wait too long after the baby is born. But 55lbs of weight shouldn't do a terrible amount of damage, I've known women who've gained more like 80lbs and were still able to improve their bellies afterwards. Good luck!

Don't feel bad I gained 80 with my first and 60 with my second. My second is now 10 months old and I am down to 130 - still 10 more to go but getting there... It will go away. I got it all off plus some the first time. BUT the first time it took me until my son was almost 2 YEARS OLD!! I think it was because I was so discouraged that I could not do it and really didnt have any friends that had been through it before. this time I had the confidence and knew all it took was committment!! It WILL go away with a lot of water and excercise!! I believe in you~~~ :) Crunches Crunches Crunches ...

u sound like me! lol with my son i gained 55+ pounds also. i was left with alot of loose skin after i lost my preg weight and more. After doing thoudsands of situps and more i went to see a plastic surgent to check into a tummy tuck or lipo. He said my stomach muscles are great but after streching so much the skin hasnt went back into place. So i decided to have all the kids i want and will go to finally have a tummy tuck after i heal and lose as much weight as i can after the baby is born. I am currently preg with #3. he will then check my stomach muscles again and if i need them tightened he will do that as well with takeing the extra flab and skin off. I am great eveywhere except the tummy area so i know how u feel. I dont know what u think of a tummy tuck but for me that is SOOOO what i want to look normal again. Good luck and God Bless.

I gained 60 pounds during my first pregnancy. I still have a small amount of "pudge". I found that skin firming creams work a little (better than nothing); also, do abdominal exercises (not just crunches). If you do aerobic exercise along with an ab routine, try Denise Austin she's my fave, your stomach will get flatter. You may be stuck with a little pudge forever but wasn't your baby worth it?

As time goes on and if you keep eating healthy and exercise regularly your stomache will go back down, but there will be a high chance that you will retain the strecth marks. I had a family member that was pregnant and she lost a lot of wait from doing yoga,

It depends. How much weight have you lost? Sometimes the abdominal muscles become separated during pregnancy or c-section, and they can only be put back together through surgery.

damage for life is such a harsh word dear... not to mention, quite depressing... i hope you haven't been hard on yourself, by comparing how you look now to the models or actresses, whose got money to hire 20 nannies and top personal trainers. look, hard fact about pregnancy: your body undergoes definite alterations. for example, boobs get heavier, and by means of the law of physics, miss gravity is just going to pull them lower. now, to the belly. unlike the boobs, which contain more fat cells, belly got more muscle, which means elasticity-hooray. with proper diet, i.e. ingesting just enough calories so not to let the excess ones being turn to fat, and proper exercise, there is HOPE!! as for the skin, lose the excess fat slowly, so you minimize excess skin. good luck.

okay sweetie calm down. it all has to do with how strong your abs were before you got pregnant that is a big factor to when you'll get your figure back. don't despair. stay hydrated, try to get as much sleep as possible, and watch your portion control. once you and your doctor are comfortable then the ab workouts can begin.
