This is weird!...
"When the sons of God saw that these girls were beautiful, they married any of them they chose. ....The Nephilim were on the earth in those days and also later. That was when the sons of God had sexual relations with the daughters of human beings. These woman gave birth to children, who became famous and were the mighty warriors of long ago."

I think I heard this in my British Lit. class (we discuss religion a lot in there) ...my teacher spoke of some Angels who came down to earth to have sex with woman on earth and they produced like "super-natural" beings....

I believe your teacher's interpretation is correct. As a New Testament commentary on this see II Peter 2:4-6 and Jude 6-11; best read in a more literal translation like the NASB. The word is apparently related to the Hebrew word naphal, which means "to fall", and might be translated as "fallen ones".Quite possibly some of the myths of the Greeks and Romans, where the gods had intercourse with women producing super humans can be traced back to this.

Numbers in the bible generally do not mean an exaction. Example: the bible notes a time of a 1000yrs in Revelation for a particular event ~ the latter would actually mean "a very long time". The Old Testament noted prophets that lived for +900yrs, the latter would mean the prophet was extremely well respected in the community. Furthermore, the above does not discredit the Lord's word in any way, the above is how people talked/conversed in ancient time. Genesis 4:15 would have a similar meaning ~ the end part of the latter verse is describing a mark: probably a tattoo to mark Cain as protected by God. Remember, the use of tattooing for tribal marks has always been common among the Bedouin of the Near Eastern deserts. God bless'

Gen. 1 -12 borrows heavily from Abraham's home town of Ur and dominent culture of the Hurrians. In that era, God was the chief, not exclusive deity. Most cultures had a hierarchy of holy beings. This is a fragment of those beliefs. By the way, Nimrod is pretty much identified as a historical figure. T...N... becoming Ninus becoming Nimrod given the spelling of the times.

This is a weird translation. The "sons of God" are the holy people, the people of the Lord. The people translated as "human beings" here were actually people who did not believe in God. So the sons of God and the human beings are actually all human beings, it's just two different faiths. In other words, this passage is talking about inter-faith marriage.
