If women today behaved more like they did back during the "Age of Chivalry", they would more often be the recipients of such chivalry.
Certainly, politeness is always in order - for gents or ladies. However, behavior of both has changed.
Let's face it, many women today do not behave like women at that time were expected to act: with mildness, modesty, and decorum.
Many women today are sharp tongued, "in your face", and harsh - such behavior is unlikely to be rewarded with chivalry.

I don't think chivalry is dead; some guys know to do the right thing, some guys are dipsh!ts. I think it's always been like this where each generation complains about how they were chivalrous and the last good thing but the next generation is the end of all things. It's just being a nice guy and doing the extra little things for the fairer sex. I consider myself a nice guy and from time to time, I notice other guys who take a little extra step and do hold the door, do the pull out the chair thing, open the car door, random acts of kindness, etc etc. Guys are/ were expected to pummel the crap out of each other and be a man and argue face to face with each other, but we turn our cheek for gals. Personally, I don't completely grasp the logic behind the equal-but-not-thing (not to say women's lib is wrong in any way it's just confusing when you have mixed signals....) but I was raised in a good home so I do it anyways b/c I know somebody appreciates it, even if the girl doesn't walk up, throw herself down before me and go "OOHH A NICE GUY!!". Welcome to life, where the difference you make will be small and numerous as opposed to one big, grand show stopping event :)

Is Chivalry dead? No, I don't think so.I think it's hibernating....or men who are chivalrous are skattered throughout the world...very few, very few...
I think that not enough guys KNOW what chivalry is, and so many girls are so independant, that if a guy is chivalrous, he's afraid of insulting the independant girl, or confusing her, by not recognizing her strength and ability to do things- like open doors, or pull out her chair for her to sit. I think some of it could also be that we live in such a fast-paced, hecktic world, and not everyone takes the time to notice "the little things"....and when a guy does do a nice "little thing" like CALL or GIVE FLOWERS, he's seen as a wierdo, and is avoided at all cost. Women these days don't know what to do with a nice guy- and it's a shame.

No, dude. It's still alive, although in a much rarer form. Chivalry is being physically considerate of the other person, especially if it is a lady, and being polite and protective of the ladies or someone weaker than you. It is also the top quality of being a gentleman. If you want to be a high status male, you ought to learn chivalry.
However, chivalry is not about putting up with other people's garbage. It also calls for being upright and standing tall for your honor or to defend a lady's honor. Women find this quality attractive in a man if it is executed properly and within context, and if it is explained to them if they don't understand the context.
Imangine yourself as Sean Connery when he is 007, and you will learn chivalry.

Chivalry in referance to knights in medieval times were to be courteous, generous, have valor and dexterity in arms. This was like the code of arms or policies, that the knights had to adhere to to remain knighted.
In our times, it is mainly referenced to how men USE to treat women. Which, as you stated, is ailing, mainly because of the feminist movement. And is very unfortunate because this chivalry stuff was TO OUR BENEFIT. And then these chicks came along and decided to burn their bras and hold open their own doors. Why? Basicly, because they could. Ummm, yea....we know how to open doors and pay for our own stuff. We have proven that. OK? Point made, but it is just so nice to have kind things done for you! I love it! I think it is sooo sweet when I see this happen, which is very rare....I wish that Justin would have brought chivalry back!!!! Screw sexy!!!

oh its ailing all right.... almost dead is more like it. Chivalry is all the respectable things that a man is supposed to do when interested in having a meaningful relationship with a woman. opening the door, pulling out her chair, waiting for her to sit down first, standing when she does, and ect.....

I think chivalry is dead in Singapore. Chivalry is good manners for men, it's just a form of politeness.

Chivalry is dead since women started to burn their bra's back in the 60's and demanded equal everything. If they want to be equal, let hem open their own doors and get out of the way if I want to exit first, etc, etc. I, personally do not believe women should be in combat or in positions that demand strength, other than that, I believe in equal pay for equal work but no free rides just because you are a female.
