When I try to burn a cd it says to put a disk in the drive when I do it doesn't reconize it is in there. You can hear it trying to run and then a screen comes up telling me to insert a disc in the drive. tHANKS

well i might be a bad disk, if you have just purhased the disk i would suggest to take it back, also check for damage on the disk, sometimes if they are cracked or just have lots of scratches on them it wll make it hard for the drive to read it.
if you can get another cd ad try burn on to that, if he dont work then you know its the drive. if its the drive, if you can try and reinstall the drivers for the cd burner drive, if you cant then maybe look at purchasing a new one.

If only on one disk, try another cd (assuming you have a CD not DVD drive)
If on all disks try remove and reload software and cleaning the drive (you can get a cd/dvd cleaner disk)
Try a known good disk..like one that plays in your audio cd player
All else failing, get a new drive.

that means the cd is no good try another untill you get one that works.....or the stuff your burning is to much for the cd in other words a 800meg cd will only hold 795meg it needs 5 meg to close the cd after writing

bad disc, or bad drive

if it does it on every disc its a bad drive / bad laser alignment

if this one disc is the only one with issues - the disc is bad....

try another disc

youre not trying to put a DVD in a CD only drive ???

That means that your drive is not working properly. I suggest uninstlaling it. and the restart hte computer and ten it should work.
