Im adopting a german shepherd/chow chow mix from the shelter, aside from all the basics, is there anything I should know about that type of mix?

Assuming the shelter will have spayed/neutered the dog?
If the dog hasn't already had training, you should be sure to enroll it (and yourself!) in a good class. Some people see German Shepherds and Chows as dangerous dogs, and they are very strong breeds, and so it's really important that your dog be well-trained and socialized to other dogs, people, and a variety of situations. You want to be confident that when you are out walking your dog, you can both handle any situation that comes up.
Good luck and thanks for adopting a shelter dog!

This dog will need obedience training. The chow is a one person dog,but will tolerate the other people in your life.I have a chow-newfie cross.Chows are known for being cranky and they can be that way. With a shepherd cross this dog will need to know who is alpha leader. On the plus side animals adopted from shelters tend to be faithful pets, they seem to know they have been given a second chance.Good Luck in your new adoption, hope it goes well for both of you.

Dogs DONT have to be asleep if they are mix...
( you didnt say that, I know... Dont worry im not blaming you... :] )
Well in my opinion I think mix is pretty much the same like a regular type of breed
But what I figured was that a mix is more playful then a regular...
But not all dogs....
Thank you SO MUCH for getting a dog from the shelter

I put the pronunciation of a few in brackets just in case you've never heard of them! You could also try mixing them up! Also Congratulations on twins!! Hope I helped!

whats the reason MOST people put their dogs in shelters? cuz those dogs have issues (most of the time they can be solved) so expect spend time with your dog, training him and spendin some money on him. but, those dogs are very lovable, so it will be worth it;)

This type of mix is very playful. You have to remember to keep him active and give him plenty of love and attention. Take him out on many walks and long walks.
