Just be sure the amp you get is 2006 CEA compliant.
Typically you'll want to match the total watts RMS of the subs and amp at the required impedance(ohms).
When shopping for an amp, look at the THD ratings, the lower the better. If possible, get two DVC 4 ohm subs to provide a 4 ohm load as loading an amp at 4 ohms has a lower THD than if you were to load it at 2 ohms or less.
When shopping for subs, the higher the dB sensitivity and lower the Hz the better.
The type of enclosure you choose is also a major factor that defines bass.

I think redleopardette means parallel - not series to get 1 ohm. Just because an amp is low ohm stable doesn't mean it will sound good, loud yes but good, no.

You can get a class d mono amp for 200 bones. It will give you better sound quality rather than just power. The Alpine 600 watt mono amp would be perfect to those subs. I'd also go with the 10"s. Go to sonicelectronix they have alpine at real low prices. I would get a capacitor and if your not gonna bass but listen I would still get it.

Well, the amp you get will depend on the amount of money you want to spend. If you're looking for something inexpensive, you could go with a Kenwood Excelon KAC-X812D, which runs $300.00 on Crutchfield and puts out over 1000 watts RMS at 1 ohm (in which case, you'll have to wire your subs in a series so the impedance is equal to 1 ohm); I have this amp and it works great. If you've got money to spend, you could go with an alpine amp, like the Alpine MRD-M1005 or the Alpine PDX-1.1000, which both retail for over $500. With these amps, you can simply bridge your speakers together. I would definitely suggest getting a cap, either 1.5 or 2 farads. If you're looking for cleaner-sounding bass, I would get the 10" woofers.

if you want sound quality, why are you looking at Alpine? sorry, i personally hate Alpine. do yourself a favor and listen to a Boston G2 or a G5. hell, even a Infinity Kappa Perfect will give you what your looking for. as far as amp brands, it really depends on what sub you get. here are a few that i like.
Kenwood Excelon
Pioneer Premier
Boston Acoustic
Eclipse
MB Quart
Diamond Audio
good luck. repost when you get a sub and we should be able to help you further.

Get any amp thats in your budget they all do the same thing I mean if you want deafning bass then get ready to shell out some serious cash but if you just want the basics just go to bestbuy or circuit city and get there packages.

The 2 12" subs with the 1000watt amp is better, normally the sub is more power than the amp anyway, so i suggest go the 12"
