I asked an almost identical question before this, but now I need to know what material they use to make the priest's white collar. Is it threaded material? Can you give me the name(s) of the material-i.e. nylon, polyester, etc., etc.? Any fabrication details would help.

I thought it was plastic - like the material they sometimes put in the collars of dress shirts to keep them stiff.

Can be any material. Cotton is good. Did you need one? There are places on the Internet where you can buy one. You can make one but it takes a large stay sort of thing covered in white material to match the shirt, cotton with cotton. and there is a fastener in the back, sometimes like a button or button and loop. Better to just buy one.

As sala'amu alei'kum, aziza.
[Peace and blessings be upon you, friend. Arabic]

It's usually made of cotton stitched over a cardboard strip to keep it stiff.

Some make it with a plastic strip instead of cardboard, nowadays.

The reason for their preference for cotton and plastic is that the fabric is good for the sweat and the plastic makes it more washable by machines; whereas cardboard needs rinsing by hand.

May Peace and Blessings be upon all of you.

they were originally starched linen collars but now they are white plastic versions that were more durable and easier to clean.
