Ok for the people that have used Proactiv before, does it really work? Is it worth the money?
And how long did it take for you to start seeing a difference in your skin?
I've seen the commercial for it and it showed a pic of this one girl that had acne really bad and she used Proactiv and it was like she never had it at all!

Also how long does it take to work on blackheads if you had/have them? And the pimples and such?

Thanks a bunch Proavtic users!! =D

I can't pick one best answer, as they are all pretty much good ones. So I will let this question expire and then let the public on yahoo vote for the best instead of me.

it took me about 3 weeks to see results and it worked very well, if i used it everyday, twice a day, or else the blemishes/pimples/etc would come back, however it is an effective product

My face started breaking out really bad when I had just turned 10 years old. Every year it got worse. I tried every kind of acne wash and cream on the market and NOTHING worked. I even went to the dermatologist and that was a big waste of time. My mom got me ProActiv for the first time when I was 16. I used it religiously because I was so excited that something might work. My skin cleared up within 2-3 weeks. After a few months my face started breaking out again, so I stopped using it. I got it on my own again when I was 19. Again, it only took about 2 weeks to see results. Actually, it only took a few days to see my skin start clearing up. I continue to use it (it's been 2 years). My skin has remained clear. I still have a few pimples now and then. It's not like in the pictures where their skin is just completely flawless. But I'd much rather have mostly clear skin with a small break out every once in a while than an extreme case of acne all the time. I saw results rather quickly...quicker than any other product I've used. And the results have been MUCH better. I have noticed though that if you skip washing your face one night or don't do all the steps in the system consistently then your face will break out really bad all of a sudden and you'll have to start all over again in the treatment. I'm sure the results are different for people. I think it's worth the money if you have a severe or tough case of acne. I don't think it's worth it if you have the teeny tiny "acne" problem that Jessica Simpson is traumitized by in the ProActiv ad.*note sarcasm there*

I used Proactiv for the first time approximately four years ago and it worked really well but then I stopped using it because my acne returned. I have had a serious problem with acne ever since my teen years and although I am 20 I still struggle with the problem. So I started using it again about 5 months ago and it took a long time, about 3 months, before my face completely cleared of bumps (I still have a few light spots on my face as a result of popping pimples and scrubbing my face roughly). It took this long to clear up my face both times. Proactiv is pretty expensive, especialy if you add extra stuff to your order (costing my anywhere from 60 to 90 dollars every month and a half to two months) but I think it is well worth it.

I find that the Proactiv refining mask works well for me (in addition to the cleanser, toner, and misturizer three piece basic set) because I have oilys skin, the green tea moisturizer smells good and is not too oily. In addition, another thing that helped clear up my face two summers ago was when I used only Anew retroactive day defense with UVA/UVB by Avon. I was also using a cheap cleanser such as clearasil at the time.

I recommend consulting with a dermatologist first and then look into a esthetician. A dermatologist can help you find a good solution for your acne problem where as an esthetician can give you facial treatments for your skin type.

They have this wand that they use to extract pimples and black heads and they also suggest not to wear makeup before and after when you get it done to let your skin breathe.

They will also ask you about what your dermatologist recommends and will work in conjunction with that. It's best to inform them if you decide on going to both?

If cost is a factor then check out a beauty school rather then a pricey salon that way you will still get help and also they have experienced instructors on hand that will also be present while the student is looking after you.

Another thing I would be careful of is mixing your skin care products because if you do then you could have a reaction by mixing them. Any skin care line is designed to work in conjunction with the same product line.

I think results will vary with users of proactiv depending on the person. I have used it a bit my self off and on. Results will vary with any skin care line out there on the market.

I have been to both a dermatologist and a esthetician so I know generally what to expect and could only described to you what is involved. Your experience could be different from mine. It takes time for skin to adjust to any skin care treatment or line. Diet is another factor which does help.

Danny, this product is a good one for almost everyone I know that has used it. I used it for about 2 1/2 years before my skin became "immune" to the product (which happens with all skin types eventually, regardless of condition). I now use Murad, an even more effective but certainly more expensive skin care product line (I've been using Murad for over 7 years). There have been less than a handful of people I know that have experienced aggravated skin conditions from the use of Proactiv.

If you want an effective, affordable product, this will most likely be worth your money. You will just have to try it!

wow this was me months ago..truth is i decided to try proactive and it took a long time to see the difference i didnt really have acne but just pimples like all over (there is a difference) and once i started using it my mom said she saw a difference but i didnt really. and i kept using it and i saw my skin not breaking out as often but i still have those dreadful scars(!) which sucks and a while ago i stopped using it for a while and i actually saw my skin was better than when i was sing it but with time i started breaking out a bit again. so im back to using it...
So there is my honest story..i guess it's worth the money but then again it IS expensive. so i guess its up to you and what your skin is like..i never really had blackheads so i wouldnt know what to tell you but i still get pimples ever so often.

Good Luck!

Hey,
I used ProActiv before and yes it does help, but it depends on your skin type. It got rid of the pimples I had but it dried my skin up a lot, and when people start using a different face wash their main mistake is switching it right away if they don't see results. You need to at least use it for 3 months to see how your skin will react to it, but it will start clearing them up. Also, just a tip.. I am currently using Aveeno face wash that helps clear up the skin and it works wonderfully, its gentle and doesn't dry up your skin, but it clears those zits up. Good luck

well remember those celebrities are paid to say that stuf.. and they have digital editing to give or take away acne. i bought it for my bf and his cousins also used it. he used it everyday (followed the directions) for 3 months and no results were shown. it bleached some of his hair sh he looked alittle gooofy...lol it didnt work for any of his cousins either
i ended up going with my bf to a dermatologist appointment wht him and i asked the doctor is it works the dr. saidd for most peopel it doesnt

i also know a few people who used it at work and it only made their complexion better by a little bit.. meaning liek evening out the skin tone but didnt help with acne or anything else.

.......so try it at your own risk.... the celebs are paid to say that crap.

I used it, and for awhile it works amazingly! Clears up the skin in practically no time (though, my skin isn't hard to manage, so if you have more complicated skin it may take longer), but then, after awhile, it stops working and ends up creating more problems.

I'd say if you do use it, use up one bottle of it and find something different. yeah yeah, it's bad to switch but it's manageable.
