I am trying to help my friend find her brother's lost basset hound. Her name is Rosy. Please help!

The same as in English.

With a few exceptions (like the German Shepherd, which is called "Pastor Alemán" - a literal translation), the names of breeds don't change.

perro. it means dog. describe it. they don't differentiate between breeds that much--- or if you prefer: un basset hound.

i don't know i think most breeds don't chage in name unless for a few of them otherwise i got this meaning "hound del afloramiento" in altavista.com
