gradually expose yourself to heights. don't do it too quickly because that often makes someone overwhelmed and can worsen the fear

First have both your ears and eyes checked.
After I lost my hearing in one side I could not keep my balance for a long time and height became a problem. Vision can trigger the same reaction. Once these two are checked and not a problem you move to the fear side only.
Check if looking straight out from heights bother you or only looking down. If it is a point of reference issue there are focus practices that you can practice that only lets you "see" what is needed in front of you. ALmost like creating intentional blind spots.
Talk to a Doctor and let him know what exactly affects you and have any test run to elimate medical issues, do not take medication from the start, many jobs will not let you work up high on meds.

I know this sounds silly but try riding elevators. Start at low floors then work your way up. After that try glass elevators. That was the scariest for me even if it was three floors up. But one day I had to ride a glass elevator and my fear of heights eroded.

well, my mother was afraid of heights as well but she forced herself to face her fears. she would go up to high places for a few minutes and then go down. soon she saw that she had nothing to fear and now she is better than ever.

So what is wrong with being afraid of heights??
Did you know that 92% of people on this planet are afraid.
I think being a little afraid of something that can kill you,
is a pretty good thing. It keeps you aware..........that could
keep you safe in ways you haven't even thought of yet.

"I will not fear, fear is the mind killer... I will face my fear, I will let it pass through me."

Heh heh... it is a good quote, because facing a fear cures you. If you can stay inside the fear, it will pass. Although, heights suck.
