Grilled cheese - use different breads and cheeses to make it fancier, broil with a tomato slice on top

Microwave some bacon and make BLTs

Turn the oven on to 350, get a muffin pan, grease the little cups, squish a slice of bread in each pan, break an egg in each bread cup, sprinkle with salt & pepper and cheese, put a tomato or cut up some green onions on top and bake for 10 mins...may have to poke to see if cooked all the way through but 10 mins usually does it.

Any salad if you already have hard-boiled eggs and a can of tuna or chicken on hand.

I'm hungry now...

The trick is to have the necessary ingredients. If you have them, there are lots of things you can make this fast.

One family favorite: pesto grilled cheese sandwiches. You need sliced cheese, pesto in a jar that you can use like a spread, and soft butter or margarine.

While the pan/griddle warms up, spread butter on the first piece of bread, put it butter side down on the warming pan, put the cheese next, put pesto on the second slice of bread, put it on the cheese pesto side down, then spread butter on the outside of that second piece of bread. Brown on the first side, flip to brown on the second side, serve and eat! Delicious.
