Don't worry, I don't plan on actually doing so! It's for a story I'm writing.

I don't drink, so I've got absolutely no idea as to how much liquor it takes to get drunk, or how much is in a bottle.

Any ideas?

I assure you, I am over twenty-one. Besides, this is not something I actually plan on doing! I am a writer, and my one of my newer characters is a bit of a lush. :-D

just one unless you're a bunch of alkies... what kind of characters do you have in mind? it all depends...70 year old scottish guy who's been drinking his whole life would prob need 3 himself...16 year old kid getting drunk for the first time prob just needs the fumes...1 bottle should do a group of average people though

Funny I just posted a tequila answer elsewhere :)

Depends on the people. I think 1 bottle would get everyone pretty tipsy with shots, but I know some people who can do 8 shots before they feel anything,

For me (chubby female) 1 shot makes me warm, 2 makes me giddy, 3 makes me lisp, 4 makes me dance, 5 makes me stop drinking hard booze and start on the sodas. I lose my mind after 5 which is why I start on the sodas. After 5 shots I'm pretty wasted for a couple of hours. I would only drink more than that if I were with friends I trusted and was maybe staying where ever it was I was drinkiing (hotel, friend's house, etc.) Most people I know drink tequila with chasers or in mixed drinks.

I'm not a drinker, but I used to be (social). The other answers are good, but keep in mind that if your character is a lush, she will likely require a lot more than normal, and she will be in a semi-state of intoxication much of the time in between binges. I lived with an alcoholic once and when he was hungover, he was still kind of drunk. Some just kind of all run together into one continous binge. The rule for metabolizing alcohol is one ounce every hour. If someone drank 10 ounces in 10 hours though, they'd likely be drunk. Age, body weight, and food eaten, all affect alcohol absorbtion. Coffee doesn't do much, but drinking water will help dilute it.

It all depends on the tolerance of each person, how much they weigh, how often the drink, their stomach contents at the time of consumption. It also depends on the type of tequila. Me personally I can down a fifth and still walk a straight line however I have a friend who weighs 180 lbs more than I do who can not walk straight after 2 shots.

If you are not 21 ignore everything I just wrote

Depending on what these people would drink and how much they could drink, one bottle should be fine (30 shots in one bottle). If there's five people each person would have 5-6 shots.

Just say in the story that you have enough liquor to get the whole neighborhood drunk, good thing only five showed up, because you only have two bathrooms. LOL

depends on type characters u casted. 2-3 fifths will do it for a few guys bet. 170-250lbs. But if u get sum Patron (silver, its the good stuff) u'll need about five bottles (but they're smaller bottles).

It would depend on the people involved & your definition of moderately wasted, also need to account for food & water among other variables.
