I'm talking about religions which promote compassion towards animals and vegetarianism.

Not God mandated animal slaughter on a massive scale like in the Old Testament.

I find it hard to believe any loving God would be pleased by humans slitting the necks and bleeding lambs.
A sick, cruel and messed up God would like that, but the way the world is,
perhaps God IS cruel and sick!

I would like to let you know, as a Buddhist with many Muslim friends, that you do not understand animal sacrifice. Animal sacrifice is a quick, almost painless way to kill the animal. It is much less barbaric than many slaughter house practices, and the reason that they believe that it is pleasing to Allah is the fact that 1/3 of the meat is donated to charity, to families that cannot afford an Eid dinner. It is not the fact that they killed an animal. I could never actually kill, but animal sacrifice is in no way as barbaric as you make it sound, it is in fact one of the most humane ways to end an animal's life...

You won't find a Jew who hunts for sport. The dietary laws permit eating meat only in moderation. You will find many Jewish vegetarians because mixing meat and dairy makes following the dietary laws next to impossible.

Part of the process of making meat kosher is to assure that the animal is killed in the most humane method possible.

Jewish law provides for the care of farm animals. They are to be given a day of rest on the Sabbath, and they are to be fed before the family eats.

Just a few of the 613 laws that Jesus deemed unnecessary...

Well I am a Jehovahs Wittness and were not vegitarians, some of us are, but we dont abuse animals. In Genesis 9.2-4 says:And a fear of you and a terror of you will continue upon every living creature of the earth and upon every flying creature of the heavens, upon everything that goes moving on the ground, and upon all the fishes of the sea. Into your hand they are now given. Every living animal that is alive may surfe as food for you. As in the case of green vegetation, I do give it all to you. Only flesh with its soul, its blood you must not eat. Hope that helped in answering that question. You are always invited to come to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Wittnesses.

Shamanism and Wicca are very respectful to all living things. Personally though, I'm not sure that it's as evil as all that. Tigers and wolves hunt because that's what they are created to do and there would be a population explosion of herbavores if they did not. I really don't see why its sick for me to eat meat. Am I supposed to eat only veggies because I have some kind of sentience to know better?

God, in Genesis, called for man to rule over all the land and the animals and to be good stewards. now this may mean that we have to kill animals. we are controlling population. how would it be if we were over run by sheep?

And God is not cruel and sick.

What??? Animals? Read over the parts about the mass murders of HUMANS, and maybe you will be even more shocked!
(tens of thousands slain, by god, and by his followers) not to mention the gang rape, slavery, burning of entire cities, and so on.

i do not know if you are going to understand or even want to;but know this that god created everything and gave man dominion over it(gen. 1:28).this does not give us permission to misuse what god has given us but the opposite.we are to be good stewards of what he has created for our benefit.as for the slaughter you talk about ;this how god instructed them to atone for their sin because blood is the only thing that can get rid of sin.it was the only way to purify.(leviticus)it was also the example of what was to come .the sacrafice of jesus(hebrew 9:1-ff)who are you to judge god on how he decices to wash our sins .yes your sins too!!
