My girlfriend's parents are fighting and talking about getting a divorce. I don't want to lie with something flase like "Everythings gunna be ok", but I dont know what to say to her about this. She's acting happy and normal, but I think she's just hiding the hurt. What can I say to help comfort her?

Tell her that you hope that her parents can work out whatever problems they have. Tell her that no matter what, you will love her as long as you are with her. Tell her that if she trusts you, that you will try as hard as possible to make sure that what is happening with her parents, will never happen between you two. Good luck, and hopefully, you can take your relationship with her to another level. Good luck with her parents current situation.

I think the best thing you can do is let her know that you understand times are tough, and than even though you don't have a solution for the problems with her parents, you plan to be there for her. That you're not sure if everything is going to be ok, but that you'll be there if she needs a shoulder to cry on, someone to listen to her, someone to hug... so on and so on.

Tell her that no matter what happens you will be there for her every step of the way, and even if her parents get a divorse it won't completely ruin her life and that both of her parents will always love her more than anything.

Don't say anything at all about it unless the subject is broughten up. Ignore it, it's better not talking about problems, but if she has something to say about it, let her get it all out, and then tell her "People have problems, deal with it." :) Besides...more than half the u.s. couples have already ended up in divorce. Look to the brighter side of it...MORE FREEDOM!

If she's acting like everything's normal than let her be happy and when she wants to talk than let her know you'll be there for her.

Aren't you a sweetie.
You don't need to say anything profound. 'How are you feeling about your parents?' or 'If you want to talk, I'm happy to listen' will do fine. And maybe some hugs...

Ask her to always remember there is nothing she can do to fix her parents relationship and nothing she did caused it. Sometimes kids tell you they all ready know this but deep down they blame themselves.
