Simple yet popular....rum and coke, jack and coke (Jack Daniel's whiskey and Coke), gin and tonic, bloody mary, vodka cranberry (vodka and cranberry juice). Sometimes, when ordering a gin or vodka drink, they'll ask you "house?". They're simply asking if you want your drink made with the lower priced, lesser quality house stuff, or if you want it made with the better yet more expensive stuff. Since you don't have much experience drinking, just go with house stuff. You don't know what you're missing yet, and will sound like you know what you're talking about.

If you are not much into alcohol ... keep it simple ... stay away from anything too strong. But try different things too. Experiment.
The phrase "That sounds good I'll have one of those too" works real well.
Mixed drinks that mask the taste of the alcohol would be an excellent first drink.
I'd start with like a Cosmopolitan [essentailly Vodka, countreau (an orange flavored liquor) and Cranberry juice] ... they might ask you what vodka you want ... Grey Goose and Effen are very popular and trendy right now.
A glass of chardonnay (white wine) or merlot (red wine) or a lite beer are nice easy choices every bar has and are not as alcoholic. And if you don't like any of them get a club soda with a twist, not much fun but healthier ... and perfectly acceptable nowadays ... lol.

Dear lord, don't order mai tai's... they are such a bltch to make.
Or anything frozen or anything muddled! Especially if it's hella busy in the club.
Stick to the simple stuff as previously mentioned - Jack & Coke, Rum & Coke. If you wanna do something fruity try Apple Vodka & Sprite, Vanilla Vodka and Orange Juice or a Double O-7 (Stoli O, 7 up and a splash of OJ.) You sound cool and don't piss off your bartender.
Save those complex drinks for a specialty resort or your home bar!

Try a sour apple martini...... or even better google drinks and study some bartender or drink recipe sights and find out what is in the drinks so you know what you'd probably like before you go the the club and won't order something you hate!!!

Mai Tais!!! Personally, I love anything fruity and that's usually what I say cuz I can't keep up with all those names. But I know I like Mai Tais, Long Island Ice Teas, and Bahama Mamas.

SHOTS!!
Polar Bear - Mint/Chocolate Shot
Prarie Fire - Taquila/Tobasco Sauce
Liquid Coccaine - For me to know and for you to try and pass out!!
Look, if they serve alcohol and you still dont feel like ordering drinks, just go for beer. Ask "what is on tap" and pick one. if they just have bottles then just pick any
