I cried when I found out he'd been hiding it from me. He said he knew I would freak out about it so he didnt want me to know. And he hides it from his parents too. Stuff like that scares me since I grew up around a man who hid drugs from me. Was my boyfriend right in what he did? Or am I right? Is it safe for him to be taking caffeine pills, creatine, muscle pills, and powders like this? What should I do?

Well, you didn't give many details. Creatine, taken in the proper amounts, is supposed to be safe -- it's almost a food product. Caffeine pills and "muscle pills" (God only knows what pills the dude is on) are not OK. Especially if he's on steroids.

I'm guessing it's safe for him to take the creatine and other powders he's taking. The other stuff, well, I don't know. Just make sure he's taking the right amount. I think creatine can be harmful if you take too much of it on a regular basis. But there is an established safe dose. Good night!

He probably hides it because he knows that you would go off the deep end over nothing. All those things are available over the counter and, used properly, they can even be good for you and/or enhance your life. There is just about zero chance that he will suffer harm from them unless he uses them in ridiculous quantities.

Now the real question is why does silly stuff like taking health food supplements send you off the deep end and make you hysterical. You have never been in a health food store? Vitamin supplements and things like that honestly terrify you?

Sheeesh. This is a bad sign for any relationship -- yours, not his. Learn to tell the difference between the drugs that might be a problem and those that aren't. In fact, creatine isn't even a drug.

Technically, these are bodybuilding supplements. This is not the same as being a drug addict.

Having stated that, there are still adverse health effects in taking more of these supplements than what the directions state. Besides his heart rate, one of the side effects would be a negative mood swing, especially after he 'crashes' from the caffeine pills. He needs to be told of his behavior, if true. Unlike the addiction of recreational and pharmaceutical drugs, the 'cold turkey' that he may experience from supplement withdrawal or reduction (including vitamins and minerals) are measured in days, not months or years

All creatine does it store water in your mussels.
Caffeine on the other hand is safe, to a point. and you should really be careful with it.

Depends on the "muscle pills" if they are testosterone boosters then you may want to talk to him, over long period of use your body will eventually produce less testosterone.
If its amino acids then that’s no big deal, amino acids are the building blocks of life and are broken down into protein.

He could also be taking NO2. Which is a nitric oxide booster, this is relatively save as long has he has no family history of low blood pressure, or clotted arteries. Nitric oxide is the active ingredient in viagra, it expands your blood vessels and allows more protein, amino acids and creatine to your mussels

as for the powders if it just whey protein you have nothing to worry about.

I have used creatine, whey protein, and NO2, but also testosterone boosters with no harm, but i didn’t even take the recommended dosage or use for over a month. (testosterone boosters)

If you find out what he is taking feel free to IM or email me and ill try to explain what they are to you.

If that's all it is, then you are overreacting. There's nothing addictive about creatine, and as far as addictive substances go... well... you don't ever hear of someone stealing a car so he can pay for coffee. I wouldn't put caffeine in the same ballpark with any other drug. I used to take both those things in high school to work out and there were no ill effects.

he is body building no doubt hun and this si the stuff they do creatine is made when we eat meats.. naturally or protein adn caffeine gets him going. he is better off drinking prolabs milkshakes that have the good protein to make his own creatine as being trained in body building from gnc training.. you can get your own muscles from proteing adn as far as caffeine they use it for the pain in muscles after the lactic acid builds up in muscle from heavy lifting but he can uise glutamine a natural amino acid .. he cared what you thought and it wont hurt him but you need to tell him this alternative method and go slow with your relationship as you are a gonna be skeptical no matter what. tell him top read flex mag please .. get him a copy. the thing with creatine is is.. all that stuff does is plump up cells with water to make him appear built up but and only but if he has enought water i mean lots to make it work otherwise this is where creatine goes haywire.. you get dehrydrated severely its protein your body makes on its own so tell him protein shakes before and after a workout and for recovery ( from lifting) is best.. leave it in his lap tell him not to hide things but then again dotn jump off in a tangent verbally when he does tell you or freak out. he is body building... your dad did drugs not body building most people who grow up with an addict in the family becomes a codependant meanign a caretaking quality you may have or become an addict of some sort yourself wether it be shopping or eating or worrying.. or being an enabler.. i woudl suggest to you as well to read codepenancy no more by melody baty and flex magfor him..

Hiding something is never a good thing, and I would have the SAME concerns as you about his behavior. HE must feel like he is doing something wrong or that you would not approve of or else he would not feel the need to hide it from you. This alone is a relationship red flag.

But just so you know ...those particular suppliments are generally safe, as long as he is at least 21 years old.

He should have told you but at the same time a litle optimism might need to be practiced on your part. Not every body is like your stepfather. And it is safe to take those if he doesn't get extreme with it. Just tell him you would like for him to be careful and honesty has to be on both sides - not just one - if you guys want this to work out.

Dont worry, creatine, protein powder and any muscle stimulant is safe as long as it is not a drug, steroids for example. You are so not wrong because i hate it when someone hides stuff from me. Your b/f is also not wrong because maybe he thought it wasnt that important.

I think Creatine is okay, but caffine...no!!! Since he hides it from you he doesn't approve of making it "known information!" You need to seriously consider the fact that he might have some other serious issues. If he is using these all of the time....what is to come? What else is he keeping from you?
