You can see them both ways. I have seen one by itself and then a pack of about 10. Usually females stay in packs and males will go off by themself.

They run in packs, however, to catch a prey they go solo with the pack waiting on the side. Once the solo coyote lures the prey the rest of the pack attacks. Very sneaky.....

When they are hunting for something like a dog they will send out a bait that will lead the dog to the pack where he will be attacked by the pack. I have also seen them hunt small prey like rabbit on ther own

I have always heard that they run in packs, but sometimes you will see one off by itself. I think that when they do this they may be scouting out the area for food.

both. they usually are loners, but i had a pack of 8 kill 3 of my goats and 1 dog. the same pack had also been killing cattle in my area.

Both. They don't constantly live with a pack, like wolves do, but they hunt together sometimes, and can be seen in trios and pairs.
